Corsair H150i Elite Capellix whine

Recommended Posts

Ive just finished installing my new Corsair H150i Elite Capellix cooler onto my ryzen 5600x.

The pump wont run below 2000rpm. This means it has a constant annoying whine. I have a Corsair 5000D airflow case, which compounds the problem.

Is it typical for the pump to run so loud?

Do all corsair AIO run this loud? Would I be better of returning this to amazon and buying a Corsair iCUE H150i PRO XT instead?

There is no way for us to know on this end if the pump sound is atypical. Obviously if it’s screeching and completely distracting, it’s not suitable regardless of whether it’s normal or not.

Most AIOs have gone to denser cooling blocks as the average number of CPU cores has increased. That requires higher pump pressure to avoid the low speed drop off point where the water lags in the block for too long. The Elite series has a ~2000 rpm minimum speed and so did the XT model before it. I would not recommend going backward in the interest of performance or noise and you would likely find both similar in tone.
