jsbieber
I need to put one of these chips into a Dell Dimension 4100 VS256MB133A or VS256MB133 What is the difference with the "A". Either particular one I should use in this system? Thanks!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 1, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 1, 2005 Please search for the correct module on our Memory Configurator. Should be a System Select module for this system.
jsbieber
the value select ram wouldn't work?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 2, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 2, 2005 The difference between the A and non A module, is that the module with the A is a single sided memory module and the non A module is a double sided. The VS module will work as well, but you need to find out on which chipset your system have; if you have a MB that is based on the 440BX or Intel i810/i815 chipset then you will have to use a double sided memory module. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 2, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 2, 2005 N.P. The important thing is you need to find out the chipset, please do not take chances otherwise the system will either not work or the system will only see half of the size of the memory module. jsbieber
Is there a software utility that can tell me that. This is for a friends PC and I dont have the computer in front of me? And just to make sure I got it -> Both the 440BX or Intel i810/i815 chipset require double sided. Anything else will take the single sided? Thanks again. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted June 7, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted June 7, 2005 You will need the Non "A" Version of Value Select and you may have to remove the memory that came with your system.
