TwoGuns
<inhale> Hi all, 1st post, not a noob, but feeling like one since I started my latest project  I have 2 sticks of 512mb (XMS3205v3), installed them on a DFI Lanparty UT nF4 Ultra-D mobo, and powered by Cooler Master 450w Real Power PSU (See my sig for more details). From the moment I hit the power button I've had the same, on-going problem. The PC freezes if (a) try to install XP from CD at the checking hardware screen or (b) stay in BIOS for more than a few minutes. I have unplugged every component, disabled all on-board+add-on cards (sound/USB/1394/etc...) and no Hard drives plugged in. Still freezes. HSF is secure, moved RAM to different slots, used single stick.... All parts are from 2 working boxes that I scrapped for the one I'm building (the exception being the PSU, Mobo and RAM as I purchased them new to build this Rig). I need specs for this RAM as I've been told the board is very particular and hoping to eliminate that as the culprit; of course if anyone has any other idea's, I'm willing to listen (and yes tried other forums, but no one tackled the RAM angle yet)... <exhale> Thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 27, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 27, 2005 Can you tell me the comeplete system spec, and have you got the latest bios installed and tried to re-set the bios? Also I would run http://www.memtest.org on the modules one at a time as well to be sure there are no errors.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 27, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 27, 2005 With that Spec you may need a bigger PSU. But I would simplify the system and just use the Video card and CD and test with http://www.memtest.org and you will need to get a floppy to update the bios. You can download a ISO image from memtest and burn it to CD.
