ranron
Hi, I just purchased Corsair TWINX1024-3200XL DDR RAM online. :D: I got this RAM quickly and I installed into my system. The problem is my computer tells me these sticks are running at 333 Mhz. If I run other DDR400/PC3200 RAM the computer runs the others (not the Corsair) at 400 Mhz. Whats worst is if I run my non-Corsair RAM with the Corsairs, the speed drops to 266 Mhz. :(: Could you guys have packaged the wrong RAM speeds? A response would to appreciated. Machine specs: Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz with HT 2048 RAM (1 GB Corsair/1 GB non-Corsair) Intel 875P motherboard Windows XP Professional
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 27, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 27, 2005 First thing, you cannot mix memory with this platform or it a may not post or run properly and can you tell me the exact make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set? And the bios version you have installed? ranron
Well, I have a OEM - Dell Dim XPS that I purchased. I tried their support, but they don't know anything. The mobo is basically a Dell-made Intel 875P sporting a Intel Pentium 4 2.8Ghz (w/ HT) and 800 FSB. Since the Dells dont let you tune any timings, I wouldn't be able to say what they are. About the mixing and stuff: Why is this RAM running at 333Mhz when its rated for 400Mhz? Also I know that PC is capable of DDR400 because, 1) The 875P chipset supports it, 2) Dell says it does, and 3) I've tried other branded modules and they run at 400Mhz. BTW, thanks for the response. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 27, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 27, 2005 Many OEM systems do not as you have found give the bios options needed to run aggressive modules like these and will because of the timings slow the memory down to compensate. In addition, this system would not support the minimum suggested voltage for these modules at 2.75 Volts. For that Dell system you will want to use our System Select modules. Please search for your system with our memory confiurator.
