I'm trying to remap some of the buttons on the Dark Core RGB that I just got, but having a weird problem.

When I go to "Key Assignments" in iCUE to remap the buttons. Nothing works. Any button that I remap just stops working. But if I go to "Hardware Key Assignments" to remap the buttons, save it to the onboard memory, then exit iCUE. That's when the remaps work. If I open iCUE they immediately stop working again.

Anyone know why none of the remaps work when iCUE is running in the background and how I can fix this?

You may need to show us what you are trying map in key assignments page. It’s possible there is a CUE corruption issue (run modify/repair option from Windows apps list to fix), but most of these are set up issues.

I uploaded a screenshot with a sample of what I did for 2 of the buttons. I did that same thing under hardware key assignments and that works once I save the profile to the onboard memory and exit iCUE. But whenever I start iCUE it stops working. If I don't set any key assignments and leave it all as default then it works even when iCUE is running. Like the forward and back works as its default forward and back. But if I remap it to copy and paste or anything else, then it stops working.

I tried repairing and performing a clean install as outlined on Corsair's website, but it still didn't work.

I am not sure.  I set mine up as you did and then typed the text below in my chrome browser bar.  Used forward to copy and then manually pasted below.

the quick brown fox jumped over the....

I was expecting this to be somewhat common CUE corruption.  When your standard mouse buttons don't work or spit out odd things like numbers and symbols, then CUE and OS are having an argument.  The "modify" repair install almost always cleans it up.  My next suggestion would have been clean install, but I guess we can cross that off.

1) Are there any other peripheral software programs in play?  Logi G-hub, Razer, etc.?

2) Can you try a simple remap like Forward button = C (no CTRL or combo modifier).  It should start spitting Cs when you hold it down in a text field.

1) I did have G-hub and Synapse installed before. But I've already uninstalled them.

2) I've tried that as well as trying to remap it to other things, but still nothing works.

Here's a screenshot of how I have it set up under hardware key assignment. It's exactly the same plus a few more remapped buttons. This works just fine after I save it to the onboard memory and exit iCUE. The only downside to this is that hardware key assignments won't allow you to remap the profile switch button.

Another note is that other options like lighting effects and dpi works just fine. When I make changes to any of those it takes affect on the mouse right away. Key assignments is the only one that's not working.

The "hardware key assignments" is just a method for using the 'save to device' mechanism to mouse.  I have little doubt this is a software issue so it's not surprising the HW mode save works when outside the CUE environment.  What needs to be identified is what is blocking CUE from executing this.

I was curious about a simple remap (mouse 4=C or whatever) because CUE executes the combo CTRL+C in a slightly different way compared to a straight remap of a standard value key.

Go to CUE settings and turn on 'debug logging' and then start a support ticket with Corsair.  They are likely to ask for those logs.  Most of these can be fixed with the repair install, so it is unusual when one can't.  I am not aware of any inherent defect in this CUE version and it does work for me.  When we have had broad spectrum remap problems, the user feedback on that comes in very quickly.  I have not seen any thus far.

Yeah. Simply remapping it to enter the letter C didn't work either. It's just weird.

I'm thinking it's definitely software issues as well. Every other aspect of the mouse and iCUE works as it should. Just key assignments while iCUE is running doesn't work.

Thanks for the advice. I've contacted support and saved the logs. Hopefully they can figure out what's wrong with it.

Any update on this issue? I am having the exact same problem. I set up key assignments, but if iCUE is running I get nothing, if I shut it off then any key assignments I have setup work. It is as though the software is blocking the profile from working.

I would just have it off but then my fan leds won't work.
