FroelichJL
I purchased two sticks of PC3200 512mb memory in March 05 from NewEgg. Each stick was placed into different machines. One machine fails to boot; boot cycle loops forever. I've tried to re-install OS but keep getting read errors. I've checked the media with Nero and no errors were found. Replaced CDRom drive, no change. Replaced HD, no change. Replaced HD cables, no change. Exchanging the modules and the functional machine fails to boot. The boot problem follows the module. I've run memtest86 v3.2 on both machines. It throws thousands of errors on one module; none on the other. Module needs replaced.
FroelichJL
The module is a Value Select module. On the sticker, above the bar code is [VS512MB400]. Under the bar code is 783-0511089-0-225867. Machine 1: [working] MB=Biostar M7VIG400 CPU=AMD Semperon 2200+ Bios=VIA KM266A-8235 (winmsd value) No overclocking / Default values Machine 2: [no good memory] MB:Abit VA-20 CPU=AMD Athlon XP3200+ Barton 400mhz Bios=VIA KM400A + VT8237 No overclocking / Default values memtest86 v3.2 throws thousands of errors in either machine. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 23, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 23, 2005 Please test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and I would set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts as well. If you do find one failing then lets get it or them replaced. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However; if you get errors with both modules, that would suggest some other problem. And I would try testing the memory in another system to be sure. FroelichJL
The two modules were tested separately on both of the referenced machines. One stick tests clean, the other throw lots of errors. Returning the failed module.
