Fan Speed Control with Commander Pro

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I recently upgraded my case and fan combo and now cannot control fan speeds on my commander pro.

Previously it was used with one lighting hub to control 6 LL fans, as well as a lighting hub to control 570x case, and I had no issue. I was able to adjust the fan speed and RGB with no problem for about 3 and a half years.

Right now my setup is as follows: h150 capellix and 6 QL Fans running to commander core. These have no issues. I have one lighting hub qith one QL fan and one lighting hub with 3 LL. These hubs go to the commander pro. All RGB works fine, but all I can see in the "cooling" tab in icue are the voltages. I cannot set or view fan speeds for any fans.

I have tried resetting the commander pro, removing HWinfo, and a clean install of iCue with and without HWinfo. Both the commander core and commander pro go to different USB headers, and I have tried swapping them and only running the commander pro with no success. I have also tried only running just the QL or the LL fans without the lighting hubs connected and still cannot control fan speeds.

Am I missing something? I would like to control the fan speeds so I can run a silent positive pressure system. Right now both the QL and LLs will randomly spool up to 100%.

Edit: mobo is Aorus Elite x570 with the latest bios. I also use Vengence RGB ram, K95 platinum, Dark core RGB, and Void pro RGB SE with no issues. Case is 5000x. I've bought into the ecosystem over the past few years and just want everything to work together lol

You may need to explore removing HWiNFO again.  The only thing that causes the disappearing fans/voltages on the Commander is when it gets locked up with another program.  Also common is your voltages are scrambled (12v=3.3, 5v reads 12.09, etc).  Do you have something else installed that is trying to read the Commander?  AIDA? GA Fusion?

All your fans are PWM so set each header to 4 pin in the Commander Pro Device Settings.  Leaving it on Auto should not cause this but setting it manually to 4 pin/PWM will eliminate the fan test on boot.

So, an update. Problem solved.

I don't know what was wrong, but a clean install of windows fixed it.

All fans are now appearing normally in C-pro and can be controlled without issue.

For reference, even with both rainmeter and HWinfo uninstalled, as well as manually deleting the leftovers, it still would not work. This fixed it previously when Link changed to iCue but it did not work this time. Just a reminder if this happens to someone else that there are HWinfo files that need to be manually deleted after uninstalling.

One possible way to avoid this is using the portable version of HWiNFO.  That used to be the recommended protocol from them when using with CUE in addition to stopping monitoring on Corsair internal devices.  I know others do use the installer version, but I suspect this is what everyone wanted to avoid and the reason I always use the portable.
