I had some problems with my RAM. Both, different modules. I'm not experiencing the same thing again. This has to be caused by something else I would imagine, its very hard to believe that I have had the misfortune of having a top brand of RAM be this unreliable.

Any idea what might cause my RAM to be consistantly failing?

I'm thinking something must have happened to my motherboard. Allow me to explain in further detail.

This pc is fairly new. Some months ago I was happily playing a game of EverQuest 2 when my computer locked up in game and I was unable to do anything. Upon rebooting my HDD started failing and to make a long story short, I had to RMA that. Maxtor deemed the HDD to be dead and promptly shipped a new one. After installing the HDD I had noticed that the 3v core was reading very low and dipping to 2. This would cause the pc to reboot. At this time I ordered a new power supply. I went from a 450w power supply to a 500w power supply. All was good for about a day or 2. Then I started getting blue screens. This was about the time I submitted an RMA for a stick of RAM. That got replaced. Everything seemed fine again for a few days. I submitted another request for RAM, after installing this module, (I have to admit, I was pretty frustrated and not even in the mood to use my pc for gaming, I took a break from playing) I recently purchased GuildWars, and behold after the 2nd night of playing it, I'm getting errors and blue screens again.

Just like before, I run MemTest86 and I am getting failing RAM again. Now I know its not anyones job (especially on these forums) to help fix any of this problem, but might you or anyone else browsing these forums know why this is happening? I'm thinking at this point its my motherboard. Any ideas? Please help!

Please test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and I would set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts as well. If you do find one failing then lets get it or them replaced. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!

However; if you get errors with both modules, that would suggest some other problem. And I would try testing the memory in another system to be sure.

Is setting the DIMM voltage to 2.7 a good practice? IE, when building a new pc set it to that and it'll improve stability?

Anyway, I've felt that I have taken advantage of the Corsair RMA procedure enough (the service has been great here on the forums and elsewhere, I do appreciate your help RAM Guy, and anyone else that contributes)

I decided to RMA the kit (both sticks of RAM) with newegg. I then purchased a new quality power supply, Antec TrueBlue 480w, and a new motherboard, ABIT IS7-E2, I figure I'm tired of dealing with the problems and trying to get RMA's done albeit saves me the money, which I am grateful for, doesnt save me too much time. With that said, hopefully I can alleviate whatever problem persisted to cause my RAM failures.

Thanks again!
