Wired
What are you comparing the speed to? What CPU / FSB do you have?
SpiritFlame
What are you comparing the speed to? What CPU / FSB do you have? The CPU I have is Intel® Pentium 4® CPU 2.40GHz The FSB is 99.6 MHz The speed i'm comparing to is the old ram that i had which was 256 Mb Spectek I tried stacking the two rams, i tried just having the Corsair Ram, but i don't see a speed difference when i'm running my programs. SpiritFlame
You may not see a speed difference. Why can't i see a speed difference? Shouldn't it be faster, if i have a 512 rather than a 256 ram, how do i know that my ram is working to its maximum potential? Is there anything i could do to speed up the ram??? So far, i have both my rams in my computer. Should i take out my Spectek Ram out but than even though i did that my computer doesn't seem to have speeded up, do you have a set of instuctions i can follow by to help speed up my computer?? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 23, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 23, 2005 Adding more memory will not speed up your system in fact with many system with more than 1 or 2 modules you may have to run at a slower setting. Can you tell me our modules part# (How To Read the Memory Label) and the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
Wired
RG and I are literally looking at the speed of the memory. You're talking about overall system performance. With more memory, yes, you'll see a small boost, but it'll only be to a certain extent. Like RG said, with more than 2 sticks, the memory controller has to do more work, and as such can negate the performance boost or worse.
