Arainach
I run a Server with the following Specifications: MSI K8N Master2-FAR Motherboard 2x AMD Opteron 240 2GB ECC DDR SDRAM (2 1GB ECC Registered PC2700 Modules) The server ran perfectly fine for about 3 months, until a day recently when the machine refused to POST. After disconnecting all nonessential parts and beginning testing, we narrowed the problem down to the Motherboard, RAM, or CPUs. We have RMAed the motherboard, but when testing one of the RAM modules in an HP Xeon Server (previously running 1GB of Hitachi ECC DDRAM), that server gave a memory error beep code, leading me to believe that the RAM module is faulty. Is there anything that I could be missing, or am I right in seeking an RMA?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 21, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 21, 2005 Can you tell me our modules part# (How To Read the Memory Label), and have you tested the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org?
Arainach
Yes, we have tested the modules one at a time; one is fine, and the module in question will not POST of display anything on the screen so I have been unable to run memtest86. I will get the actual model number as soon as I have access to the server itself (I'm at home right now; I'll definatley have access Monday, but I'll go in tomorrow and should hopefully be able to get access).
