z28Power
After getting various random read/write errors while gaming, and crashing to desktop, I started running memtest86 from a bootable CD in dos mode. On test #5 I get anywhere between 86-212 errors. After trying each stick one by one in all memory slots, I have determined that one of my corsair memory sticks is to blame. IT is Memory module in question: CMX512-2700C2. Using mobo with via kt333 chipset. Both of the other modules when in system without this one test fine. Stick has been running fine for a year+ until last week.

z28Power
A more recent development. It appears my other stick of corsair is having troubles as well. I also have a stick of 256 CL2 RAM PC 2700(don't have the part number offhand, not at home right now). Anytime that stick is in the system with any other stick of RAM I get errors in memtest. When it is in the PC alone, I get no errors no matter the slot configuration. I still get errors with the 512 stick in with or without other pieces in. My stick of kingstone hyperx ram runs fine in all configurations, along with a stick of pc2700 micron RAM. Would that piece be RMA-able as well? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 23, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 23, 2005 That would suggest some other problem. Can you tell me the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set? Also what slots did you install them in? z28Power
That would suggest some other problem. Can you tell me the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set? Also what slots did you install them in? Motherboard: Soltek SL-DRV75 CPU - I have tried with both of these configurations - AMD Athlon XP 2100+ / 133FSB also AMD Athlon XP 2700+ / 166FSB I have tried BIOS settings at both SPD controlled as well as manually setting the specs based on the memory specifications. All performance settings are no longer active and nothing is being pushed to the limit. Here are the reasons I still feel it is both pieces of RAM. The single 512MB piece of ram fails in all slots, by itself and with other pieces of RAM installed. Test failure varies per test, I have had it fail on test #3 and test #5. The 256MB module fails anytime it is used in any slot with any other stick of ram. I have tried it in the PC with 2 other sticks of ram, both of which test out fine by themselves and with one another. Once you add this stick of ram to make either a 512+256MB combo or a 256+256 combo or a 512+256+256 combo, it will always fail in the memory range that this module controls. By itself I have run it as a single test a few times and it does not fail. All slots of motherboard have been tested to check for a possible bad slot and I have determined the motherboard ram slots are OK. BTW I am a network technician who also diagnoses bad hardware fulltime. I understand you still would like all the facts and I recognize that I can make mistakes as well so I welcome any ideas or suggestions you would like to make to verify these failures. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 25, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 25, 2005 Well getting errors or having problems with both modules would suggest some other problem. I would suggest testing the modules in another system if you can but I also have no problem replacing the modules. But from what you have posted I would suspect some other problem no matter what memory you use it looks like that system may not be stable. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!

They are both failing in a second system as well - I'll set up the RMA, thank you for your help!
