1000D & H150i Elite Capellix

Recommended Posts

Greetings,

I built my new system in my Obsidian 500d RGB case and with all of the fan wires, SATA cables, and PSU cables, cable management leaves little to be desired.  My old parts are going to my son and girlfriend, and she loves the 500d RGB.  I am looking at the 1000D, as there is a lot of space and I can build a mini-ITX as a secondary PC/media server, and as I am not doing a custom loop, I and using the space for other gadgets/customization.   Plus, I love the look of it and it will fit in in my office set up.

My question is this: Since I already purchased the H150i, what is the best way to install it? I know I can buy a separate tray for the top, and I read that installing an AIO in this manner may be for the best. I have three LL120 fans on the other side of the radiator for push/pull (and it works great.) The other option is to give the H150i to my son/GF and get something else, though options are limited if I want the 1000D and to keep everything Corsair/Asus.

There are top trays with both 4x and 8x 120mm fans. However, they are hard to get. You can try contacting Corsair support.

Or ... give it to your son and go for either a 280mm AIO or the 420mm Elite Capellix AIO. Those would go in the out-of-the-box top tray.

Thank you for your reply. I find it to be strange that the trays are hard to get.  I wish I would have known more about the situation before buying the H150i, as I would have chosen the 420mm. I haven't seen any indication that the 1000D will be going on sale as of yet, and thus I may consider a different case altogether.

Actually - another thing that you can do (if this works for you) is to swap the top tray and the front tray that it ships with. IIRC (and @Zotty can confirm this), they are interchangeable. However, you'd have just 140mm fans in the front.

Also, the 420mm Capellix should easily mount in the supplied top as well.
