masamunexc
Hi, I've been running one stick of CMX512-3200C2 (v1.1) for a couple of years now, and I wanted to add another 1028 so I bought the VS1GBKIT400 (2 sticks of 512). The computer's POST and Windows XP recognizes that there is 1.5 GB's of RAM now, but after a few minutes I'm getting the blue screen messages and the computer restarts. It runs fine with either just the old 512, or just the new 1028 on their own. My mobo is a Gigabyte GA-7VAXP. Can I change some timings to get this combonation to work? Thanks. CandyKid
Welcome to the forums, masamunexc! For the most part, mixing and matching memory doesn't work very well on most systems. FYI. However, you can try a slightly higher VDimm setting (2.75 or so) and relax your latencies... something like this: CAS - 3 RAS TO CAS Delay - 4 Row Precharge - 4 Cycle Time - 8 You can also try a 2T command rate, but it might yield better performance to ditch the 512 and just use faster timings with the VS kit. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 19, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 19, 2005 Well the XMS module he has will not support Cass 3. So I would try Cass 2.5-3-3-7 and the MB you have if you install more the one module may have to run at PC-2100 speed. But the memory Frequency should set in sync with your CPU or less than the CPU but not faster then the CPU Frequency.
