Memory Could not be "read"

Recommended Posts

OK here goes. When im playing CS:S, after about 10-15 minutes of playing, i get an error message saying something along the lines of The Instruction at 0x24179b46 referenced memory at 0x00e72ed0. The memory could not be 'read' You can see the same problem at this members thread.

My system is as follows, no overclocking done to it.

AMD Athlon 64 Skt 939 3000+

MSI K8N Neo-2 Platinum

BFG 6800 OC

2x 512 mb Corsair Value Ram

Seagate 120Gb 7200 RPM drive

Lite-On 16x Dual Layer burner

Sony DVD ROM

Thanks!

OK, i followed your instrcutions, and ran memtest for 13 passes. No errors occured. So i tried CS:S. After about 15 minutes i was all happpy becasue i thought my ram had started behaving. But(as it has been doing) the game continuously freezes for a second or two, and comes back. Then, after about 20 minutes of playing, it gave me the error message again. I am really confused now. Thanks for the help so far.

There seems to be a lot of users who are having trouble with this game, I would suggest you contact the maker of said game and ask them if there is any known issues that they are working on? But this seems to be a driver/service pack issue that they will need to address.

i tried another game now, farcry. same error occured however. When playing CS:S with some older ram i have (its OCZ), it works without a hiccup, although slightly slower as its only 512 mb. And farcry works well with the OCZ too. Thanks for everything so far
