jbrewer9811
I had the same issue. 10 QL fans all set to white. One day I noticed one led on one fan was purple just like your picture. Tried EVERYTHING with no luck. Ordered another from Amazon and all is well now. LeDoyen
it's a dead green die. White kills those LEDs quickly. it's a good idea to reduce the brightness when using white or the LEDs overheat (despite being in a fan frame). That's the very worst scenario in terms of power draw, you have all 3 color dies running at full power. Apparently, the green is the first to pop. LeDoyen
Well you didn't do anything wrong did you 🙂 it should go smoothly through warranty. It's not specific to corsair though, all RGB leds do heat up when set to white. if you have strips, it's even easier to feel. it warms up in seconds. just to put things into perspective, your 5 QL fans on white on full brightness will pull just under 3 amps on the 5V rail, and the SATA connector that powers them is rated at 4.5A. If you reduce brightness even by a third, that will reduce current draw a lot and make your leds last a lot longer.

I had 6 Corsair QL120 fans replaced so far because of this issue. I have then all set to white at 35% brightness and they still die. I personally never has any issues with any of their other fans, only these. I hope Corsair can work this out and take on the feedback for the next one. Dzoom
So I have this same issue, or perhaps slightly different? I start with 2 LEDs in the wrong static color, then one get's with the program while the other remains wrong color. I can, however, control both the individual LED's to any color I want IF I control them separately, so the LED it self seems to be fine? Which makes me think it is a problem with software? What makes things even weirder is that it now starts working normally after a few minutes of operation.
ne7
same with 3 of mine, one with dead line would start working after a little time... but world stop working after a reboot again. the other two remained the same as in the pictures. I raised a support call a few days after finally replacing the fans with some more QL's "seems like a dumb idea now" 😄 Anyone know what the process is like for replacements??? will they ask for these to be sent back to them or just to dispose of them? OldSchoolGamer
I'm very disappointed as well, i bought this QL120 x3 pack fans from amazon on October 9th 2020 and one of these fans has already 3 dead LEDs. It's all just same as other people described: fans set up to white color and that's it.... 3 dead LEDs in one fan. At the beginning i thought it was firmware and i updated everything from ICUE and now I'm reading these bad news. I'm really concerned since i got all the RGB stuff from Corsair and even the corsair dominator platinum RGB ram sticks each 32GB 3200mhz which was really expensive to me but all money spent just wishing to get a stunning looking rig.... I'm afraid more white leds dying and ending up with a build i cannot change color as desired 😞
LeDoyen
there is no white LED, that's the problem. you blast all 3 colors LEDs with maximum current to get it. that's why you should reduce brightness quite a bit to avoid killing them too quick when using white. JSCarter
I had 6 fans in total, all of them burned out the leds. I had planned buy 3 kits QL fans but due to the experience of the cumunity I prefernot to buy Corsair fans again. The value of the product does not compensate for the quality
MikA-
I got the same problem. Is this only consistent on the QL fans? I have now put them on 50%, will this be enough? Thx for clearing this out for me! I'll make a ticket cause luckily they are still under warranty. Also, since it was a triple pack, should i return all three or just the one with the issue? Grtz, MikA

I know this thread is old but its worth a shot. Same problem here is happening with my port 1 LL120 fan. I have had them set to white ever since I got them. Although, I had forgot to plug in the sata cable for the Lighting node a year ago when switching over to a new case. I just plugged back in my sata power for the hub (I know I was lazy) and one middle bottom LED is just discolored and wont match up with the other ones. I cant tell if its green or yellow but ive tried everything to triple checking all the cables even hard to reinstalling corsair iQUE. Could this be the same issue? And if so, how would I go about getting a new one? Bought these fans over 3 years ago and no rgb usage for the past 1 year. Is warranty coverage still in the picture for me or is that ship sailed in the black sea? Any sort of response with good or bad would be great. Always been a fan of corsair products and never had a slight issue with any of the products until now. thanks, Yungnippy <
c-attack
It’s more common with QL fans but no fan is immune to LED failure. You very likely burned out a blue LED in that spot. You can check by setting a pure blue 0/0/255 static color and see if it goes out. Just to make sure this isn’t some software mishap, swap fan 1 with any other on the RGB controller. A dead led should travel with the fan. If the “new” fan 1 suddenly does the same thing, then we need to look for another cause. Fan warranties are two years, so if this is a dead LED you’ll need to find your own replacement. Fortunately it’s just one fan. Running all fans at max white brightness will cause more wear and tear on the LEDs. Some companies are starting to issue warnings about reducing brightness to lower current/amperage if you use them this way.
S3R3Y
My one is also been happening. My one died straight out of the box and when I turn it on a cyan color one of the LED would be green. The next day after I installed it it started happening and don't know how to fix it. I tried unplugging everything and nothing work.
LeDoyen
it's a dead blue LED. the only way to "fix" it is to replace the fan, or look away 😛 If it's DOA, you should get the fan exchanged. You can test it by setting the color to pure blue (red 0, blue 100, green 0). you should see a blank spot where the green dot is right now because that blue LED would be off. you can do that for each primary color to test your fans if a similar problem arises in the future.
