Marko T
In an effort to upgrade my system for better gaming, I would like to put a Gig of Corsair RAM into my system. I have an ASUS A7N8X MB (not deluxe version, no suffixes after model no.). Have no idea which version of BIOS I'm running. I hope it really doesn't matter. My question is, can I just slap in the new memory sticks that Corsair says are compatible with my MB, and then expect everything to work normally, or will I have to do some system reconfiguration (oh man, I hope not, because I'm a real rookie when it comes to those tasks)? I've read some threads on this forum where people with the same MB have had complications after upgrading their RAM. What could I expect? Also, what's all this about dual channeling? How do I know whether my system is already using this method, and how do I enable it if it is not? What would it do for me? Again, I really hate changing settings in places where I could really screw something up! Simple instructions if possible, please! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Wired
There is no such thing as Dual Channel memory, as this is a property of the memory controller in how it handles memory. This is why you can place memory in different slot configurations on a motherboard and it will register as single or dual channel. Dual channel is activated when your memory is in the correct slots. Your motherboard is dual channel capable. Memory Basics
