No drop down menu for start and stop lighting effects

- Selected the device I want to create a custom lighting effect on.

- Added a layer.

- Changed it to a gradient.

- At the bottom, you have all the usual toys to play with (lighting object field, time, color wheel, etc) except for me, I don't seem to have one very important thing: the drop down menus for starting and stopping the effects.

 

It just blinks nonstop.

 

Idk if I'm just a dumbass, or if this is an issue with laptops? I've been looking for the options to start on keypress, but I swear it's not there for me.
