Madbob
First off my comp specs;3500+venice,xp90hs,DFI nf4 ultra,x800xl,enermax 485w 2.0 psu and 2x512 cmx512-3200c2pt twinx.Right away noticed the ram was running at 3-3-3-8 rather than 2.5-3-3-6 at spd.First thing I did was to see what OC I could get with this ram.Using memtest,2.9 volts and backing multipier down to 9, I could get multiple error free passes to 236.First OC try on cpu was 11x210,LTD 4x,vid 1.42,cpu throttling off, memory 2.9v and everything else at spd and auto.It booted into os(xp sp2) but was not stable(lockups while doing some benches). So for the hell of it I tried 11x215.Failed to boot.Tried 10x230 ( no luck). After that I tried many bios tweeks, some I knew but mostly from forums like dfi street.Nothing could even get me stable at 11x210,a measly 100 mhz.So just as a lark I pulled a pair of corsair valueram out of another comp and plugged them in.There also 2x512 3200.To my surprise the comp booted at 11x230 and totaly stable at 11x225 with the basicly stock first try bios settings.I'm positive I could get a much better OC with tweeking and dividers(which also didn't work with xms ram). So what I am asking is,am I stuck with some expensive stock running speed only ram? Thanks for the read Bob
high5
what c2 rev? i suggest you to search for similar problems on the various forums since dfi nf4 is very picky when it comes to memory in my experience... it needs a bit of tweaking. also try updating your bios. Madbob
what c2 rev? i suggest you to search for similar problems on the various forums since dfi nf4 is very picky when it comes to memory in my experience... it needs a bit of tweaking. also try updating your bios. First off I have the lateist bios for this board. As far as tweeking I've spent alot of time in the bios trying to get this twin x to run.No matter what I've tryed I can't get a stable OC above 75mhz.With the value ram I've gotten 350mhz@1:1 and 550@9:10 with ease without pushing alot of volts. Also after checking out the "ic inquiry" thread,it seems I have Pro Mos-5 rev.A chips on these sticks.Anybody have a similar experience with these?I have a feeling there made by the "Ive got a lemon semiconductor corp." What I'm probably going to do is post in the warrenty forums a see if I get a response from Ram Guy.
high5
so its v5.1? not much you can do about it, especially if they can do what they're supposed to, that is 2-3-3-6@400 (2.5-3-3-6@400 for amd). promos/mosel chips aren't quite oc friendly.

Yes they are v5.1's.They auto detect at 3-3-3-8@400 but didn't lower timings because that wasn't going to help OC.The value ram runs 2.5-3-3-8@400 auto. It's just a shame that I paid a premium price for ram that runs no better at stock speeds and worse OCed than a companies bargain products. high5
spd has nothing to do with it... my tccd also has 3-3-3-8 spd, but it can do 2-2-2@400 with no problem @2.6v.
