tendura
I own a Dell Inspiron 5100 notebook. It came with 256 MB of PC 2100 memory. I wanted to add another 256 to it so I purchased a stick of the Value Select memory. (256 PC2100) When I installed it, my laptop's caps lock and scroll lock lights flash a few times and then the power turns off. I tried the memory in the notebook by itself and it's doing the same thing. I was curious as to whether this is a compatibility issue or just a simple matter or defective memory. I was extra careful when installing it (anti-static) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! :):
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 11, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 11, 2005 If you are going to add to what you have now you should really use System Select modules with any OEM system. Like CMSS512MB-266SOD as suggested by our memory configurator.
