ASUS ROG Strix B460-I and Intel Core i5-10400 - Which LPX Memory?

Recommended Posts

ASUS ROG Strix B460-I

Intel Core i5-10400

Hi again,

as I'm about another Mini-ITX-Office-built I wonder what Low Profile Memory does fit. This motherboard does not appear in the Corsair compatibility list.

As there will be no cpu overclocking I need only basic memory.

Intels data sheet:

Memory Specifications

Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type)

128 GB

Memory Types

Max # of Memory Channels

Max Memory Bandwidth

41.6 GB/s

ECC Memory Supported ‡

Any help is highly appreciated.

XMP is an overclock, so if you strictly want to stick to "no OC", then you will have to use a kit that uses the specified speed Intel states on their product page.

I would recommend 3200C16 or 3600C18 for best performance, although 3600C18 might already be kinda hard for your CPU to run, depending on the quality of your mainboard and your CPU's IMC.

Check ASUS' QVL list for a better overview what works and works not.

Thank you,

I've found the memory list of the motherboard and ordered CMK16GX4M2A2666C16 which is 2666 MHz and conforms to the Intel specifications.

What XMP concerns you need to activate it in the BIOS or leave it off.

Default is normally off in my experience.
