LED Issues with Corsair QL 120 Fans

Recommended Posts

Hi Mates

So i have the Problem with my Corsair QL 120 RGB Fans.

Last Year i buyed 9 of the LL120 RGB Fans and had the Issue that 1 or more RGB points on the Fan stuttering or flashes in Pink and Stay at this Colors.

Now i Buyed 9 of the new Corsair QL 120 RGB Fans. Now after 2 Months in my PC i had the same Issues in 4 of my 9 Fans.

I used 1 Commander Pro and 2 Nodes for the 9 Fans. Allways works finde, but the LED issue is keeping.

Anyone know a fix of this Problem?

Sry for my bad English Skills^^

OMG I was just going to make a new post about this. I have been having the exact same issues. I have 6 QL fans with a H100i elite capellix cooler and have been experiencing the same problem. Currently I am on my 3rd set of replacement fans and always one single LED like u have shown goes out. I bought 2 sets of 3 pack QL120 fans from completely different stores and still experienced the same problem on both sets.

Its been so tiring packing all 3 fans back up repeatedly after doing all the cable management. I am not sure if setting fans in white colour gives the problem because both my fans went out when I had set the LED to white. Luckily I got replacements and now I have changed colours on all fans due to this repeated issue.

Have you had the colour set to white when this issue occurs?

OMG! i have the exact same problem. My fans were first perfectly fine, but after a few months of use 2 of my ql120s leds glitched out. To this day al of my 9 ql120s got 'infected'by this glitch and i still havent found a solution :(. When i set my fans to white some of the leds change to purple and when i change them to yellow some of the leds change to red.

I have the same problem 2 out of 6 fans led stuck after going full white, 4 leds now are purple no matter what. Any solutions? when you pay 4x the normal amount for fans you expect them to last. 1 set of three was 6 months old 1 set of 3 was 2 months old.

This seems to be pretty normal for these fans. I have a few out as well. At this point I can't be bothered to deal with constantly RMAing them so I just turn that specific LED off in ICUE. Kind of annoying for a premium product. I know I can just RMA, but redoing my wiring every time one of these goes out is not worth the hassle.

If anyone is still having this issue and has an ASUS motherboard with Aura, that is the cause of the problem. There is some type of compatibility issue with the two even though there should not be. If you go into the ASUS bios and turn off Aura the fans work like normal but if you are like me and don't just have Corsair products in your PC, you're out of luck with all of your lighting working until some update is made by either Corsair or Asus

Same, I have 10 of these fans, 7 of them have leds that have as I've seen Corsair accounts say they've "burnt"... Well that sucks but I'm not going to send in 7 fans while my 3 rads sit her heating up everything else. Unfortunate to say the least as I'll go elsewhere in the future for similar products. edit: zw8dLMz.jpeg

I’m not sure how you discovered this but you’ve just solved my problem and you’re a legend.

thank you

I have exactly the same issue... turning off Aura didn't fix it for me sadly...

Why would Aura running cause this? If the QL fans are plugged into a Corsair controller there should be no interaction with Aura. I don't understand how Aura running could affect this.

There is an interaction if the Asus plugin is enabled. The how and the why is another story and this may not be a solution for everyone.

Hey everyone,

Sorry to give you all false hope. Turning off Aura in my bios worked for about a week and the LED issues came back. I have now RMA'd 3 QL120s and returned 2 to the retailer and need to RMA a 4th fan. Unfortunately there is no fix other than to sell this garbage and get new fans or continue the painful experience of going through the RMA process with Corsair

with white lighting you really want to lower the brightness significantly or it will heat up the LED dies drastically. That's common to all brands, but the QL may be more subject to it since they have like 34 leds a pop.

If they don't die abruptly, the shade of white will drift quickly as coloed dies degrade due to high current.. like you buy a QL fan a year from now, turn them white and see your old ones with a slight colored hue.

That won't ressuscitate your dead fans but it's good practice for their brand new replacements
