2 x 512 Twinx 3200 Cas 2 <- :/

Recommended Posts

Hi !

I think i have problems with a Twinx 2 x 512 3200 C2 module. (CMX5123200LLPT - 0324113 - don't ask me, its written on the sticks !)

I have a Asus P4P800 Deluxe as mobo, set on bios defaults, (1019) - a Pentium IV 2.6 C - Default FSB.

I have to confess that i didn't made a bootable disk to test my module with memtest86, and used Memtest 3.2 (free version), but, even at the pretest, it reports errors :/

I tested the module on another computer, with the same mobo, same CPU, but not the same bios (1005 maybe or less) all on default settings.

For both sticks, and running Memtest for 10 % : 30 - 40 errors,

First stick for 600 % test (more than 30 minutes) 6 errors,

The other one : 140 % test (about 10 mn) 47 errors. <- of Course i've stopped it, i was tired to push return on each error report...

I've been using this module for about a year and a half, and thoses problems (i mean blue screens during games, or during nothing that special) appears since 6 - 7 months, and i didn't supposed that this problem would come from the module (hey, this is Corsair ! They wont do this to me). And then i heard about Memtest, and then about you, RamGuy :)

I'll be around to answer any questions, and try any advices to set this situation.

Thx

Please try these settings after you load setup defaults.

AI Over Clock Tuner: Manual

CPU Freq: 200 MHz

System Performance: Auto

Memory Frequency: 100%/DDR400

Dim Voltage to 2.75 Volts (but if you over clock 2.85 Volts)

Resulting Frequency: 200MHz/400DDR

Legacy USB: Disabled

PAT/MAM/PAM: Auto

SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T

SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T

SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T

Then test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org.

Done ---> AI Over Clock Tuner: Manual

Done ---> CPU Freq: 200 MHz

Done ---> System Performance: Auto

-- Memory Frequency: 100%/DDR400 -- Do you mean : DRAM Frequency : 266 - 320 - 400 - Auto ? or something else ?

Done ---> Dim Voltage to 2.75 Volts (but if you over clock 2.85 Volts)

-- Resulting Frequency: 200MHz/400DDR -- I dont know where to find this option --

Done ---> Legacy USB: Disabled

-- PAT/MAM/PAM: Auto -- I dont know where to find this option neither --

SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T

SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T

SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T

Well i actually have :

DRAM CAS# Latency : 2.0

DRAM RAS# Precharge : 3

DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay : 3

DRAM Precharge Delay : 6

DRAM Burst lenght Delay : 4

Memory acceleration mode : auto

DRAM iddle timer : auto

DRAM Refresh rate : auto

I've gone thru Memtest with those settings, for about 400%, and 0 errors ! But i wish to know, is this just a fine setting, or is this affect in some way my performances ?

I mean, if i want to get a bit over clocked (CPU Frequence : 230 - 240) should i change some settings ? (except the dim voltage)

I'm sorry but i'm a real noob in over clocking.

Thx for your answers !

Yes, you would need to relax the timings and I would suggest you visit one of the over clocking forums for more details on how to over clock. I can answer direct questions but I cannot tell you how to over clock your system.

A few good sites are http://www.asusforums.org or AKA http://www.houseofmobos.com or http://www.overclockers.com or http://www.hardocp.com

Ok thx for the links.

Does the settings, you gave me, are standards settings, for "normal" charge?

Does the options that i didn't found, and didn't turned the way you told me, will affect the stability of my module ?

Thank you for everything :)

Yes those are the tested settings for that part#.

Does the options that I didn't found, and didn't turned the way you told me, will affect the stability of my module?

I am not sure what you are referring too can you be more specific?

Yes those are the tested settings for that part#.

I am not sure what you are referring too can you be more specific?

I mean : i found and set as you told me :

AI Over Clock Tuner: Manual

CPU Freq: 200 MHz

System Performance: Auto

Dim Voltage to 2.75 Volts (but if you over clock 2.85 Volts)

Legacy USB: Disabled

and for those settings :

SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T

SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T

SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T

SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T

I actually had :

DRAM CAS# Latency : 2.0

DRAM RAS# Precharge : 3

DRAM RAS# to CAS# Delay : 3

DRAM Precharge Delay : 6

DRAM Burst lenght Delay : 4

Memory acceleration mode : auto

DRAM iddle timer : auto

DRAM Refresh rate : auto

This is not exactly what you told me (You dont talk about DRAM Burst lenght Delay set on 4 for my module)

And i didnt found those options (so i didn't turned them the way you showed me) :

Memory Frequency: 100%/DDR400

Resulting Frequency: 200MHz/400DDR

PAT/MAM/PAM: Auto

So i was wondering, what if, i dont touch the settings i didn't found. Is this gonna create troubles, or the others options i fixed will be enough to get my modules working fine (sorry if i'm not clear enough - my english is not very good)

Thx Ram Guy ;)

All settings not listed for your modules part# should be set to Bios default or Auto. You can go to http://www.rojakpot.com and look for the settings in the bios setup guide for more details about that specific setting if you like. But especially since you are having trouble bios default would be suggested.
