gvayl
Hi, See sig for hardware. Here is the problem. I got a combo from monarch, cpu, ram, mobo. Replaced their heatsink with XP-90 and tried to see if the combo works. As soon as I turned it on I went strait to memtest86. Test 8 failed. I tried testing single sticks to see which stick is the bad one...hoping that I will have atlease one good one. Both sticks passed. Then I tried again 2 sticks, failed. Bottom line here is what I found after fiddling for hours: Any single channel ram configuration works(passes memtest). The dual channel fails memtest. I installed windows with 1 stick. Everything is stable...ran the prime test for like 2 hours...it was passing. Got help from people at anandtech and dfi-street. Tried playing with latencies voltages. Tried using 2.7V, 2.8 for the Ram voltage. No go. Any help from you corsair people would really be appreciated. Thanks. Ram version is 1.5 0513031-0 CL2 XMS3200
CMC_SAVAGE
Not to be the Devil's Advocate, but it seems you were looking for a problem. Monarch is a good company (bought from them several times). They usually test their CPU/MOBO combos prior to shipping. Are you actually having problems or are you going by errors in Memtest? What are your BIOS setting? gvayl
Yes I was looking for problems...that's it! I just love problems. I can't boot into XP with dual channel mode, but I can in single. I am not longer getting memtest test 8 errors. What I did was use the ram settings in this forum for my ram. My bios settings are default except: Cas 2.5, Trcd 3 Trp 3 Tras 6, RAM Voltave 2.7 and Bank interleave off. Memtest test 8 passes only if dimm voltage is >= 2.7 and bank interleave is off. I still can't get xp working in dual. I get a blue screen just before I should be getting into the desktop. And yes monarch is a good company, but everyone has flukes...I'm not trying to dump on monarch...I don't know why you think that. Wired
I think he just meant that your post sounded as if you hadn't tested the system out at all before you used the new heatsink.

Garvin
That's a bummer, though alot of people are having a problem with this board with dual channel. I'm afraid we'll actually need to see how you have the bios set in order to be of much use to you. ps what power supply are you using as well? gvayl
Got it working thanks to a good person at DFI-street... This is what he had me do: StephenC Ok try this 1. clear cmos (make sure unplug power cable to psu) 2. Boot and go into bios. Set to load optimized default 3. Save and reboot. 4. Go back into bios go into genie bios settings and make sure dim voltage is set to 2.6 5.set cpu startup vid to 1.425 6. Set cpu vid to 1.425 7. Set cpu vid special to 110% 8. go into to dram configuration settings Make the below changes. CAS Latency CL=2.5 Ras# to CAS# delay tRCD 3 Min Ras# Active Time tRAS 6 Row Precharge Time tRP 3 Enable 2T Timing Disabled. Disable Bank interleave. 9. Plus disable Erratta 94 and turn off cpu throttling. Save and boot into XP....don't worry about memtest for now.....
Garvin
Bravo. ps: this is virtually identical to the link provided with the subtitution of the actually latency numbers for your Corsair model of ram and the ddr voltage dropped from 2.9 to 2.6 volts.
