Krofa
Hi. I am writing this as a pre-purchase question. I have searched the forum but couldn't find anything related to this mobo. FYI, I have had terrible, terrible issues with an Asus A7V880. Horrible mobo and not recommended at all!!! Currently I am back to using my A7V600-X with no problems. I do not own any Corsair modules yet. But I need 2GB of RAM definitely and that's my reason for upgrading. nForce 2 mobos don't come into question for me since it is not recommended for ProTools LE digital audio workstation software. What is your recommendation for configuring this mobo with 2GB of RAM? 4x512MB or 2x1GB? Have you had any issues reported with this mobo? Have you had positive reports of satisfied users that have configured this mobo with corsair modules? I'd really appreciate some detailed info since I had suffered a horrible week with the problematic A7V880! Cheers...
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 5, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 5, 2005 Pro Tools may come with hardware and as such I would suggest you use a MB that they have validated. More than likely an Intel system would be suggested. But I would check with Digital Design Except their site is extreamly slot for some reson. Digidesign is quite slow in terms of posting PC compatibility info. There is a user forum where we all share experiences. I am using my XP3200+ CPU with great stability and no issues by now. I just need the 2GB upgrade...
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 5, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 5, 2005 I would go with a Nforce2 chipset for best performance and just disable the onboard sound and use a PCI sound card, but from looking on there site (What I can get to come up) Nforce2 is supported. OK. Thank you for caring enough to log onto the Digidesign web site. But I am going to ask you to please let me take the risk with the chipset and construe this question as a simple hardware compatibility question regarding the SOYO KT880 Dragon 2 mobo and a 2GB Corsair memory configuration. What do you say about that? BTW, if you do want to check out the official forum (http://duc.digidesign.com) you can find much more detailed reports and recommendations for PC setups there... Thank You.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 5, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 5, 2005 Well 2 1.0 Gig modules should run with out problems with that MB, but we have had a few report that they did not many options in the bios with that MB and if you cant set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts it may not be stable.
