Monterey
Hello, Yup this is yet another question on the same topic, but after reading thru other threads here and trying out suggestions I have yet to figure out what Im doing wrong. My system: Enermax 701 atx2.0 and sli compliant 600W power supply Asus A8N Sli deluxe motherboard TwinX2048-3200C2 memory Xfx 6800 GT videocards set in SLI set up AMD 64 FX-55 Cpu My memory is failing Test 5 and Test 7 using Memtest v1.55 I have tested the memory using both asus 1007 and the new asus 1008 Bios Tested in default settings <3-3-3-8> voltage ? (default wont show V ) the same latency settings as above but with 2.7V ... 2.75V and 2.8 V Tested the memory again with 2.5-3-3-8 using default voltage.. 2.7V...2.75V and 2.8V All tests failed at the 5 and 7 test. I have reversed the sticks so that B1 was now A1 and ran the same tests with the same results Tested each stick individually in slot B1 and both seem to have passed Any help and advice on how to resolve this problem would be very greatly appreciated Thanks :):
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 4, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 4, 2005 I would maybe RMA the CPU as that would suggest the memory controller has some issue.
Garvin
Is your bios set the way Sander Sassen has it set on the first page of this link: http://hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/38623/ If your bios isn't set this way I'd change it to match. If it is set this way then I'd also suspect the processor. I've read of a bad batch of fx55's from AMD as well as circulating fakes and defective fakes on the market. Monterey
I will have to double check to make sure that is the "exact" config you mentioned, but just looking at the link and by pure memory it does seem to be. Unfortunetly the computer is not at hand right now so Ill check when I can and let you know :) Very nice link btw ... thank you!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 4, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 4, 2005 Please put the memory modules on either slots 1&3 or 2&4; make sure that you have the latest BIOS installed for your MB; load optimized/set up default, and set the following BIOS settings; TwinX512 or TwinX1024-3200C2 Advanced CPU/Memory Configuration: Memclock Mode: Limit Memclock Value: 2:1 (DDR400) SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T 2T Command Rate: 1T Advanced CPU/Hypertransport Hypertransport: 5X Jumper Free/Frequency Voltage Control: AI Overclock Tuner: Manual CPU FSB Clock: 200 DDR Voltage: 2.75 Volts All other settings should be set to default settings! Then please test them one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and let's make sure it's not some other issue! I would run the test for at least 2-3 passes to be sure!
Monterey
Ram Guy, Good Morning, I tested the memory again using the settings you posted up above. Here are the results. Using Asus bios 1007 .... Memtest v 1.55.... Each test was allowed to run 8 passes. Modules in 1&3 : failed all passes Modules in 2&4 : failed all passes Individual Modules tested alone : One failed all passes One passes all passes Once again these were on the setting posted in your post above :):

Monterey
Just a follow up, I recieved and tested the new RMA'd memory. Passed every test with no problems. Runs wonderfully. I was considering adding 2 more modules of the same type to the system in the near future. Are there any settings in the bios that will need to be changed? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 24, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 24, 2005 We gave the settings previously but if the system is stable I would leave it where you have it.
