H100i rgb platinum se annoying sound

Hey, I bought a refurbished unit and installed it about a week ago. The cooling performance is great, but there is a constant hissing/whistling sound that is pretty irritating. I'm having trouble recording it. It sounds like if you turn a faucet on just a little bit - like the flow is being impeded.

I've tried different radiator/tube orientations (so I don't think it's air bubbles), and I've turned off every fan in the system. I even tried a different power supply to confirm that the sound is coming from the pump or at least the waterblock area. I tried plugging the fans into the motherboard instead of the aio - no difference. I tried setting the pump speed within icue between quiet, balanced, and extreme, and the sound changes, but the pump is very noisy at the quiet or extreme settings.

Is this sound normal? Even with 6 fans going, plus the 3 on my gpu, the cpu cooler is the most noticeable sound coming from my PC. The noise doesn't change based on CPU load.

Any suggestions?

That's usually a clear sign this isn't going to work and that's not normal behavior. Not sure if its some type of electro-mechanical issue with the pump or something else, but I would exercise any return options you have.

Yeah, that's the thing... manufacturers don't generally fix AIOs, aside from something like a broken wire. They are difficult and time intensive to repair, so more often it is going to be recycled. A returned item that was used for 3 days is something else, so a lot turns on the meaning of 'refurbished'. I would generally avoid an actual repaired unit without knowing what was wrong, but in some markets this is a fairly normal transaction.

A month later and I finally got a replacement. The new one is very quiet and the "quiet", "balanced", and "extreme" pump speeds work as expected too. Don't buy a refurbished aio cooler! haha

hello

nn the quiet or balanced profile, please can i check what your Pump speed RPM is?

mine has started making a whining noise recently and my pump is fixed at 1900-2000 RPM, even in quiet mode.

where as before in quiet mode it used to run at 1100RPM but now its fixed at 1900RPM and i dont know what to do, does the profiles quiet and balanced have a impact on the pump speed? if so please can you screenshot and share?

Thanks you so much
