sjmartin
Hi I've been running 2 CMX512-3200C2 sticks in my P4C800 Deluxe board for aobut 18 months. I just bought 2 more sticks of the same, after inserting, upon booting into Windows several internal windows programs reported that they could not write to memory. I read prior posts on your support board from people with the same memory. Based on these posts, I downloaded memtest86. I removed all memory and tested each of the new DIMMs separately several times with memtest. One of them came up clean every time. The other reported lots of errors each time. Steve M. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 2, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 2, 2005 Steve, First thing please make sure all 4 modules are exactly the same part# and revision. (How To Read the Memory Label) If so please set the Dim Voltage to 2.75 Volts and Disable legacy USB and re-test the suspect module.
sjmartin
Hi: The link to the "How to Read the Label" appeared to be broken. But I did get the info off the labels. The 2 original DIMMs I had (they work fine) are: CMX512-3200C2 XMS3202v2.2. The 2 new DIMMs are a different rev. than the original 2, but they are also different than each other, which is curious because I got them from the same vendor at the same time. Their info is as follows: Good DIMM: CMX512-3200C2 XMS3202v5.1 Suspect DIMM: CMX512-3200C2 XMS3202v1.2 I retested the suspect DIMM by itself with the voltage set to 2.75 and I disabled Legacy USB and memtest still reports tons of errors on this DIMM. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 4, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 4, 2005 Well with this MB all of the modules would really need to be the exact same revision. But we can try replacing the module if you like. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! sjmartin
Sure I can send in the module and they can see if it really is bad. Would there be value in my sending the good module in also, that way if they replace the bad one, they might be able to replace it with one that matches the rev # on the good one? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 5, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 5, 2005 You would need to talk to customer service about matching the modules but that would be the reason to send both modules but DONT do that untill you talk to them. Other wise you may get back the same different revisions and that is or maybe part of the problem. Please either call our customer service at 888-222-4346 and dial "0" or follow the link in my signature "If you have submitted the RMA using the on line form and have not got a reply!"
