dreadlockunicor
First things first, this cooler has been an absolute nightmare in terms of getting any kind of control over it. iCue is completely broken with the cooler/motherboard combo and I have never been able to detect the stupid commander core as it always disconnects whenever I start up iCue. Overall, the cooler is performing just fine with my Ryzen 5800X at stock, especially since this CPU runs very hot by design. Now to the issue, just today, the radiator fans will kick into 100% speed for no reason. What's weird is that the LED sequence freezes to a static rainbow when this happens instead of the default dynamic rainbow. Restarting the PC does not fix the issue, only a shutdown does. The question is, is this another issue with the cooler or with my motherboard? The LED's freezing seems to point to the cooler again. I'm probably going to return it to Amazon while I can an avoid a PITA RMA.
kwsingleton
I'm having the same issue with a H150i Elite Capellix. Completely crazy all around. Can't get any firmware updates to work, had to use an older iCue version to control the fan colors and see device details. The fan disconnect time even varies depending on the iCue version! iCue v. 3.34.161 (old - suggested in a post): I can control fan colors for all fans and see temps/speeds. Disconnect times were short, at around 30-60 minutes.iCue v. 3.37.140 (current): iCue only prompts me to update the H150i/Commander Core, so I can NOT control fan colors or see device info. Disconnects are longer at around 3-4 hours. I've tried a whole slew of things (Changed windows settings, disabled all other RGB software, tried Safe Mode, changed SATA cables on my PSU, etc.) based on reading posts and talking to Corsair support, but the back and forth is pretty slow. Can't figure out if my cooler is defective or I'm suffering from some X570 related issue some others have mentioned in posts.
dreadlockunicor
Well I'm happy you can detect it at all, however inconsistent. I tired the 3.34.161 version and that doesnt work. Nothing ever works lol
CdrRogue
Sounds strange - sounds like the Commander Core is the issue, assuming the fans are hooked up to it. (are they?) Have you checked the USB and SATA power connections to the Commander Core?

Have you checked the USB and SATA power connections to the Commander Core? Yes, all the fans and RGB are connected to the commander core and they are powered and work. I just cant control any of it as iCue has never been able to detect it as everytime iCue starts, it disconnects the USB. I'm suspecting its a commander core issue because if it was a motherboard issue, I don't know why it would change the RGB to static with the fan speed increasing. After updating bios I got my sleep option back and doing a sleep and awake clears the fan speed issue and static RGB.

The pattern of how it disconnects still sounds similar since when I lose mine it goes 100% fan and static lighting too. Do you have any other fans connected to your Commander Core? I hooked all the H150i fans to mine, but have it controlling my Corsair LL140 case fans too. I've been curious if having more fans on the Core than the primary three is contributing to the problems. I've also seen other people noting USB related issues for X570 motherboards which we both have. Pretty annoying this motherboard design seems to have so many issues with the Elite coolers. I'll disconnect them and see if that changes anything. Probably not, but worth trying. Still most likely a dud commander core or x570 issues. I miss my old non-RGB corsair cooler on my 6700K...simpler times.
kwsingleton
Well I stopped being lazy and just tried that for my machine. Disconnected all fans except Elite Capellix ones from the Commander Core and... no difference at all, firmware failure. Went ahead and swapped out the USB port on the motherboard too. No difference. Disconnected my Lighting Node pro from USB to avoid conflict there. No difference.
