kinto
Hi all, I hope you can help me. I've bought a module of ram, this one CMX512-3200C2PT XMS3202 v3.1 0417020-1 I tested it with memtest86+ with no errors and with these settings of ram: 2-3-3-6 Vdimm 2.6V 200MHz Then I run mprime95 and I have select the "torture test" with the same settings for ram and I had "hardware error" after 5 minutes!!! The cpu settings are 133x14 (AMD XP-M 2600+) the motherboard is Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe with last version of bios. The Power Supply is an Enermax eg365ax-vd-g. After this failure I have set the Vdimm to 2.7V and the error is come after 2 hours. No errors occur when I set the ram at 3-3-3-7 at least, also with Vdimm 2.6V. Someone can help me to understood the problem? Thanks in advantage.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 2, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 2, 2005 Please try these settings and install the modules in slots 2-3 and set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts. CPU Freq: 133 MHz Memory Frequency: 125% Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts Resulting Frequency: 166MHz SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 6T

Why I must set the ram frequency at 166MHz?? The cpu can run at 200x11 with vcore 1.6V with ram at 200MHz too and 3-3-3-7 and no error occur with the torture test for many hours (12 hours and no errors). If the default is 200MHz at 2-3-3-6 (2.5-3-3-6 on amd platform) why i must test the ram at 166MHz? I can't understood. Thanks.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 2, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 2, 2005 If you are over clocking the CPU the failure may be from the CPU, and testing the memory in a no load environment will tell us if you have a failing module or your settings are just too tight. In addition, if you run the CPU and 166 MHz or higher the memory should be in sync with the CPU, when you run the memory at DDR400 and the CPU at 133 MHz it will cause a bottleneck and may generate errors that are not from the memory. And if you have a failing module it will fail no matter what settings or frequency you run them at. In addition, can you tell me the test you are getting errors on in http://www.memtest.org? Ok, thanks for the explanation. :): The best thing is to test the ram at 200MHz on a plataform with no oc and with cpu default fsb 400MHZ at least (like a pentium northwood 3 ghz). The memtest86+ is ok, no errors detect also at 2-3-3-6 at 2.6V VDimm after 5 pass. So I try to test the ram at 166MHz and cpu 133x14. Stay tuned. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 2, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 2, 2005 If thats the case, I would try and lower your CPU multiplier and set the dim voltage to 2.8 Volts and you might add a bit more voltage to the CPU as well. Hi. No errors with the settings CPU 133x14 RAM 2.5-3-3-6 166MHz 2.7 Vdimm. :): Let's go to start another test with CPU 166x11. See you tmorrow, I hope.
