ArrogntSwami
Hi all, Can someone put me out of my misery? First time building a PC for my on and it all went perfectly well until I got to the RGB lights. I have the MSI B450M-A-Pro motherboard and the Corsair SPEC-Delta Carbide ATX RGB case which comes with 4 120mm. Corsair case fans, 3 RGB & 1 regular. Having read up how to connect everything up I bought the Corsair Commander Pro and RGB fan hub. The power cables for the fans plug into the Commander Pro but what must be the RGB cable, which is a 4 pin female connector - I don’t know where these go and this is the problem. I thought they would just plug into the RGB fan hub somehow. I’ve got a splitter which connects the RGB cables but I don’t know where to plug the end of the splitter cable into? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you.
c-attack
The Spec-Delta front RGB fans are an oddity and not part of the normal Corsair RGB ecosystem. They use a "MB style" RGB connector and connect to the 12v RGB header on your motherboard (not the 5v D-RGB). Is there some type if splitter or daisy chain that came with the case so those three fans can be connected in series? The fan power wires can stay on the Commander and they will be speed controllable in CUE, but you won't use that RGB Lighting Hub with the current hardware. ArrogntSwami
Thanks for your reply, yeah I have a splitter with it, so I can connect the RGB cables via splitter directly into the RGB header? I read about fried motherboards so was trying to find a way to use the hub, but it doesn’t sound like I can.
c-attack
Not with those fans. They were designed to be used with the MB 12v RGB. Kind of an oddity and that is the only case I am aware of that comes with fans of that type. You can't fry these and they are 12v (4 pin connector). Look for the matching 12v 4pin male RGB headers. Any D-RGB (5v) MB headers will only have 3 pins. All the Corsair ecosystem stuff is digital RGB 5v, so forcing that wrong connector onto the 12v is the "fry your fan" warning. If it doesn't fit exactly, it wasn't meant to go there.
ArrogntSwami
Well, having checked there’s no RGB header on the board. I only have the SYS_fan1 header with 4 pins as well as JFP2. Where do I go from here?
LeDoyen
if it's the board in your profile there's a JRGB header just above the RAM slots. check page 37 of the manual. Watch for the pin orientation of course

Watch for the pin orientation of course Hey thanks for replying. Sorry mine is the Msi B450M-A PRO MAX and there’s no such header there it seems. There’s the CPU fan header which you can se in the picture partially but nothing else.
ArrogntSwami
Can anyone help me with what cable I need and where to plug it? Used Corsair support but no joy as they just referred me to the manual, which I already have.
Misiek690
Get yourself this thing. https://www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/controllers-dimmers/mini-rgb-controller-with-rf-remote-dynamic-color-changing-modes-4-amps-per-channel/1261/2932/ But keep in mind that you'll be only able to control RGB with this included remote since you have no RGB header on your motherboard. Hi there, So digging further into this, it should have come with a 3 to 1 fan splitter/connector with the case as mentioned on page 9 of the quick start guide. That would then connect directly to your motherboard. Unfortunately your board doesn't have that header, but I did find a possible workaround if you want to still control everything via ICue. You'll want the ArrRGB DAC and whatever adapters are appropriate. Both can be found here https://piratedog.tech/ (the DAC is under devices), feel free to PM me any specific questions on this. Hey Senosse, thanks for your response. Ahh so it appears that lead in the manual wasn’t included. If I had that or similar, would they light up at all if I don’t have an RGB header? Do you know which MB header I could use to plug it into? I appreciate the suggestion but I really need to stop spending on lights lol. Already spent £80 on the commander pro and hub. I may return to that suggestion when I at least get them to light up in some capacity.

You'll still need some type of power even with that adapter, it just allows you to only need one header rather than three. The one little hub suggested above with the remote would work but not be controllable by ICue in that case. The other other option is simply snagging a different set of fans, as far as I'm aware these are the only fans corsair makes that don't work with their hubs. The positive with that is you'll have many more color options and control, but you would have to buy them still. I did confirm that you can get away with only the DAC I mentioned above for $47.99 (after contacting corsair for the splitter cable you should have received), it comes with the cable to plug into your commander pro and the lights will go directly into the DAC. https://piratedog.tech/collections/devices/products/solarity-tech-arrrgb-dac-essentials-bundle Edited January 13, 2021 by Senosse

It’s probably worth my while just buying new fans I think as in the UK I can get the 3 fans I need for £45. I may take these existing fans for my own build and get some use of them then. I bought this case to keep everything streamlined with Corsair but it’s caused more expense! Appreciate your help.
