iCue fan colours not working?

Hi all,

I just bought a 4000x case, which comes with three SP fans included, and have also installed my other three SP RGB fans that I've had for some time now. I understand that these are two separate types of fans - is there a way to get them both to work?

Also, I can't seem to actually get any of the fans to work. The three fans included with the case are just staing a light blue colour no matter what effect I choose, and one of my older SP fans is coming on at times, but the colour doesn't seem to match what I'm trying to do, while the other two fans have no light at all.

You need two separate controllers for those two fan types. You can get away with mixing all the other types, but the original SP-RGB (4 LED) are an odd duck. Are you using the push button remote for those?

The SP-Pro/Elite are 8 LEDs and quite different in most every way in regards to the fan itself. These are software controlled only. Don't put them on the controller with the SP-push button.

The case should have come with a Lighting Node Core device that connects back to the software via USB 2. The SP-Elite need to be in slots 1-3, then in the CUE software go to the Lighting Set-up tab for that device. Select "SP-Pro/Elite/ML-Elite" (the really long one that is cut off). Then tell it three fans. This should create an 8-8- 8 fan array in the lighting effects tab. Go there now and choose a lighting effect.

Sort of. They have come out with these new ML Elite and SP-Elite fans (Elite AIO coolers and 4000x case). Surely they are intended for retail as well, but 2020 was a bad year in every sense. Things seem to have stalled. The other 8 LED fan is the SP-Pro. Those are a RGB match, but they are 3 pin DC fans. On most motherboards that means a 60% min. speed. That can be slightly too much for the Ultra Quiet crowd.

My advice is to sit tight and wait for CES 2021 this week. That is generally when new products are revealed. That doesn't mean they will be available to buy next Monday, but at least then you know what items are in frame for the general future.
