Idus
Is there a way to check if a memory-kits is single- or dual ranked before you buy it? Can you read it from the model-number? I have searched the specifications as well as forums and cannot find this information since I would prefer to buy a dual-ranked. I know that you can test what you already have - but that information should be within the specifications? No? As examples of kits I have looked at: Corsair Vengeance Black RGB LED Pro DDR4 3600MHz 2x16GB (CMW32GX4M2Z3600C18) Corsair Vengeance White RGB LED Pro DDR4 3200MHz 2x16GB (CMW32GX4M2C3200C16W) Corsair Vengeance Black RGB LED Pro DDR4 3200MHz 2x16GB (CMW32GX4M2E3200C16) Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB Black DDR4 3200MHz 2x16GB (CMT32GX4M2C3200C16) Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB Black DDR4 3200MHz 2x16GB (CMT32GX4M2Z3200C16) Thank you in advance! Edited January 5, 2021 by Idus
Infin1tum
yes and no. You would have to know the ver. No. on the sticks. With that you could find out, what IC is on them. But if you don't happen to go to a store and look on them yourself, you most likely won't find out since vendors probably won't tell you. Corsair neither provides that information. They use for those standard low tier bins whatever IC just happens to be available that day at the factory. Chances are very high tho that you will get a dual rank kit with any of these. There are only few 16GBit ICs available.
