RM 550x Fan Clicking

Ok after 10 years of running my i7 860 i finally decided to upgrade.

My new build had a few challenges with cabling etc but got it built below is the specs.

Lian-Li PC-011 Air

Corsair RM550x

Intel Core i7 10700K Comet Lake Avengers Edition Processor

Asus TUF Z-490 GAMING WITH (WiFi)

32Gb (2 x 16Gb) Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO

MSI RTX 2060 Super Gaming X

Corsair H115i RGB Platinum Hydro Series 280mm Liquid CPU Cooler

5 x CORSAIR LL Series 120 mm RGB LED

Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB NVMe

SanDisk Ultra II 480Gb

OCZ-Agility3 240gb

CORSAIR Commander Pro

3 x Acer KG251Q 24.5" ZeroFrame 144Hz 1ms on 3 x DP Ports

So i have used various calculators for the PSU and all of them based on the above every one said a 550W Psu was more than enough and everything has been pretty good for a week p.s. CPU and GPU are stock not OCd.

I decided to see what the RTX was like after previously having a (*i know* a GTX 960) but as soon as i play anything that increases the Draw on the GPU thus increasing the power draw from the PSU the Fan Clicks now initially i thought it was too much power power but turns out the fan seems to be the issue not the draw. my PSU Fan is installed on its side not traditional (Fan Facing Up) i powered down the system and checked the PSU smelled ok and looked ok i spun the fan and hey presto the click even and a slow push it clicked.

So down to my issues, I use my PC for work and where in lockdown so need it more than ever.

Do i have valid RMA ?

Will Corsair Send a replacement in advance before collecting/being sent the defective PSU?

Thanks for listening to my ramblings :-)

So it's not a click preceding the fan starting to spin, right? It clicks AS it's spinning as if a fan blade is hitting something?

Correct it has now occurred as the system powers up and or when the Fan Kicks in but only Sometimes its not effecting the PSU per-say just annoying I thought PSUs could mount either horizontally or vertically but seems this one doesn't like being on its side :-(

How things have changed for me... from this

I have had another look at the PSU and using a small tooth pick spinning the Fan I could hear it was catching the Outer Casing / Grill only a tiny bit, so I pushed the centre of the FAN assembly with a small amount of force (pushing the fan away from the grill/casing)

The constant clicking noise has now stopped YAY Silence is Golden i have left the RMA Ticket open for now just in case it re-appears..

Thanks guys n gals
