netjrb
Hi, I bought the components for my current system in January of '03: A7N8X Deluxe rev. 1.04, BIOS 1008 Athlon XP 2600+, 333 FSB 1 - CMX512 3200C2 2 - CMX256A 3200C2 I just upgraded to this configuration: A7N8X Deluxe rev. 1.04, BIOS 1008 Athlon XP 3200+, 400 FSB 1 - CMX512 3200C2 2 - CMX256A 3200C2 If I run Memtest86 at 2-3-3-6, I get errors. Running at 2.5-3-3-6, passes. I just saw your configurator now states that these sticks will only run at 2.5-3-3-6 for my motherboard. But, when I bought these sticks two years ago there was no such disclaimer, they were stated to run at 2-3-3-6. If I'd know this at the time I would have bought your low latency sticks. Can I RMA these sticks for a set that will run at CAS latency of 2? Thanks, Jeff Brown
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 25, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 25, 2005 I am sorry but we would not be able to change to another part# and we have never support mixing modules, only a Twinx set of modules would be rated at Cass 2.5-3-3-6 on an AMD platform. With 2 single modules the suggested settings would be Cass 2.5-3-3-7. And I would set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts as well.
netjrb
Got ya, I didn't know mixing wasn't supported. So would I get better performance running: sync(400) with 2.5-3-3-7 or async(333) with 2-2-2-
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 25, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 25, 2005 I dont understand your question. The CPU you have is a 333FSB CPU so running the memory at DDR333 at tighter timings would give the best performance in sync with your CPU.
netjrb
My old CPU was 333 FSB, new one is 400 FSB which prompted my original RMA question. So now that I'm running 400 FSB, which is the better: sync(400) with 2.5-3-3-7(I'm assuming this one) or async(333) with 2-2-2-5 Thanks!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 25, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 25, 2005 DDR400 at Cass 2.5-3-3-7 would give better bandwidth but you can test the system both ways and see which is best.
