palco
Hi, I recently installed the above kit on A7N8X deluxe rev2, in slots 1 & 3. Soon after started getting lockups, ran memtest, after a single pass it shows failure on test 5, 8 errors. Mobo set to defaults for mem/cpu, no overclock, sys cool. Presumably faulty? :[pouts:
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 25, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 25, 2005 Can you tell me the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?

In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set? CPU: AMD Barton 2500+ (1833mhz) FSB: 166 CPU Level1 cache: enabled CPU Level2 cache: enabled Bios Frequency multiplier: Auto Bios System Performance: Optimal Mem.Frequency: By SPD CPU Vcore: Auto Other than setting Mem.Frequency from Auto to By SPD all other settings are default. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 25, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 25, 2005 I am sorry but with this CPU you would need to run the memory frequency at DDR333 or it will cause a bottelneck in the chipset and may generate errors that are not the fault of the memory. Please try these settings and test the system with http://www.memtest.org to be sure. CPU Freq: 166 MHz System Performance: User Define Memory Frequency: 100% Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts Resulting Frequency: 166MHz SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 7T

palco
No problem, please let me know if you have any trouble. Would a matched pair 1gb TwinX1024 3200C2 also have to be 'downgraded' in the bios on this sys?
Tarpondog
Hi, I recently installed the above kit on A7N8X deluxe rev2, in slots 1 & 3. Soon after started getting lockups, ran memtest, after a single pass it shows failure on test 5, 8 errors. Mobo set to defaults for mem/cpu, no overclock, sys cool. Presumably faulty? :[pouts: I first installed the same memory in a soyo kt880 and had numerous problems and the memory would only run if installed in 64 bit. but it passed the memory test. I then installed the memory in a biostar M7NCD Ultra and got the memory to run in 128 bit... ran the memory test for 8 hours and it failed test 5 every time. replaced with corsair twinx1024-3200c2... ran test again for 8 hours and there were no test module failures. I am now going to request rma and return the defective memory....jm
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 26, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 26, 2005 palco Yes with the CPU you had you would need to run the memory in sync with your CPU. Tarpondog No thats not the same problem, please start your own thread and list you complete system spec and we will do our best to help you resolve the problem.
