JEck
I purchased a package with two CM512's and one of them is bad. They made my system pause every few seconds, and more recently started giving me stop errors. I do not have a floppy drive and have no way of burning Memtest. After removing them both and testing them both individually in all of my ports, I have however found out which one is defective. When it isn't in the machine, the stuttering doesn't happen and the stop errors don't appear. The warrenty from the place I purchased it only lasted 15 days, so I cannot return it to them. I've tried various different BIOS settings, along with the defaults, with no luck. I'm on a Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe, and have also tried two different HDs, each with fresh installs of XP, before I pin pointed the RAM as the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Wired
What is the part # and revision # of each stick? How To Read the Memory Label You do not have a floppy drive, and you do not have a CD-RW drive?
JEck
They are both CMX512-4000PRO, XMS4000v3.2, 0504080-1. I purchased them bundled together in a single package. I do have an CD-RW drive, but my burner is broken and I have no other way to get memtest.
Wired
Are you trying to run the memory @ 200 Mhz or 250 Mhz?
JEck
right now, all of my BIOS settings are on default, which is Auto. This one stick is still the only one having any problems.
