Metmaniac
I have an alienware with an intel 875pbz motherboard. I purchased 2 pairs of twinX matching pairs 2048 3200pc 400mhz. I can get comp to 1gb with 1 inserted, then when i insert 2 it goes to 2gb. When i insert the 3rd i goto 2.94 gb. When i insert 4 it stays at 2.94 and doesnt goto 4gb and i have sound issues. Can 2 twin pairs be ran in this motherboard?? they are pro series 2gb twinx matched memory pairs pc3200 400mhz. thanks for the help as alienware support wont help me cause i bought ram from someone besides them. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 21, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 21, 2005 Thats common with this chipset. What does it show in the bios? And you can test the modules with http://www.memtest.org one set at a time to be sure.
Metmaniac
The Bios when i hit f2 and delete at startup shows all 4 memory slots full with 1024gb 400mhz ddr dual channel. My Bios version is BZ87510A.0047.P12. Under the system settings still showing 2.94gbram. Thanks for the help
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 21, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 21, 2005 I think the latest bios for that MB is P27 or P28 I would suggest you update it, but what you have posted is normal for that chipset. Max memory is Giga Bit not Bytes and then you would need to subtract the memory used for your Video card and CPU.
Metmaniac
I updated the bios now is showing 3.5gb in the system settings. However i am still suffering sound problems when i load up my games or try to run music software. any idea why this is? Thanks again
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 21, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 21, 2005 More than likely a driver problem, you might check with the MB and or sound card maker.
Metmaniac
Still having problems with the sound in Gaming aplications (world of warcraft, BF Vietnam)when all 4gb are installed. if i go to 2gb then the sound works fine. Also works fine with my old 4x 512 corsair LL's.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 22, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 22, 2005 Again that sounds like a driver/bios issue when you have the memory buss fully loaded. I would check with the MB maker and sound card maker especially if you are not getting errors with http://www.memtest.org.
