lastahyes
I am in need of a cable for a evga p104-100 gpu. I would like some help with finding the right cable since the last one I bought was not fitting. I was told by evga that my gpu can use a 6+2 pin but I am unsure what cable i need since I was told by evga that I need to ask corsair about this. any help here and I would be grateful. I have a RMi 650 PSU and I'm unsure if it it's gen 3 or 4 and type 4 or whatever.
Administrators Technobeard Posted September 14, 2020 Administrators Share Posted September 14, 2020 You're looking for a cable for an EVGA PSU, but they told you to ask Corsair? Why? Did you ask them if a Corsair PSU cable would work on an EVGA PSU?
LeDoyen
nunu, EVGA GPU :p regarding type 3 / 4 cables check this page : https://www.corsair.com/fr/fr/psu-cable-compatibility If i remember well, only the 24 pin cable is diffferent between type 3 or 4. PCIE should be identical, so either 3 or 4 would work.
Corsair Employees jonnyguru Posted September 15, 2020 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 15, 2020 Doesn't matter if you get type 3 or type 4. Both are the same. You're just looking for an 8-pin PCIe power connector.
lastahyes
I guess I should have waited to post the question before I checked with corsair.com. I guess the type matter for which PSU I'm running. I see that it's a type 4 gen 3 PSU cable requirement for the PSU. I also found cables on corsair.com website for what I need but i can't believe the shipping fee. $15 to ship a $5 item. thanks corsair. I am just looking for an 8 pin PSU connector with a 6+2 pin PCIe connector. type don't matter i guess, just as long as it's PCIe. I found them. Corsair Employees jonnyguru Posted September 21, 2020 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 21, 2020 I see that it's a type 4 gen 3 PSU cable requirement for the PSU. Gen 3 just means it's an individually sleeved cable. You don't need such a fancy cable if you don't need it. Like I said, just get any Type 3 or Type 4 PCIe cable. That's it.
