ferry_g
Hi Ram Guy, long time no see :) Below is my config: Athlon64 3000+ DFI LP nF4 SLI DR BIOS 3/10/2005 TwinX1024-3200XLPT (400 mhz@2-3-2-5 1T/2.7v) 2 x WinFast PX6600GT Extreme TDH (550/560) 2 x Seagate 120 GB SATA (2 mb cache) 2x ASUS optical drive Creative Audigy2 Value Thermaltake pure power 480 watts active PFC WinXP SP2, nForce driver 6.53 & Forceware 71.89 installed. By default the XLPT timing was detected 2-3-2-5. I couldn't make it run @2-2-2-5 as specified. When ran at those timing, PC Mark 04 always failed (no random boot, yet). Can you tell me what to fill in the BIOS too make this XLPT work @2-2-2-5? Because too much setting for the memory in BIOS that I really don't understand. I'm hoping your soonest reply. Thanks. ferry_g
Ram Guy, I've found no error in Memtest86+ v1.55 after 19 pass (8 hours 24 mins). I'm hoping your soonest reply. Thanks.

ferry_g
Hi Wired, Yes, trcd: 3 detected by default. So it can't run at 400 mhz with 2-2-2-5-1T in this mobo. Wired, are you sure my XLPT isn't defected and it's only incompability between the mb & ram? FYI, as I stated above I've ran the memtest86+ v1.55 in this mb with 2-2-2-5-T1/2.7v setting and found no error after 19 pass. I only wondering why it can't run with those setting in Windows. Thanks Wired.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 21, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 21, 2005 The power supply you have may not be or meet the requirement for this MB, and I would check with the MB maker to make sure it will work with this configuration. As far as I know in order to run any of the SLI based MB's you need to be using an ATX 2.0 compliant PSU. But please check with the PSU and MB maker to be sure as that can cause this type of error if you not using the correct PSU.
Garvin
Minimum 28 amps on the 12 volt rail if you want stability in a supply that is not 2.0 compliant.
ferry_g
Hi Ram Guy & Garvin, I'm using 24 pin power supply. (By using original Thermaltake PSU Adaptor cable from 20 to 24 pin). Now, I only single vga mode and the trcd always have to be set to 3. I only want to see it ran at 2-2-2-5-T1 as specified. Should I buy the original 24 pin PSU? FYI, the memory run find @500 mhz (3-4-4-8-1T/2.7v). No error found in memtest.(FSB 250x7 : PCMark04 v1.3 (44 test) : 3641) Thank you.
ferry_g
I have Asus A8N SLI Deluxe. BIOS 1007.004 also can't run in 2-2-2-5-1T. The default BIOS setting is 2.5-4-4-8-2T.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 22, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 22, 2005 Have you checked the PSU as we stated before that can cause this type of problem? And have you tested the modules one at a time to see if it's a failing or weak module?
ferry_g
RAM Guy, After testing both modules 19 pass withg no error in Memtest86+ v1.55 (8 hours 24 mins, do I really need test the modules one at a time to see if it's a failing or weak module? I just updated with BIOS N4D414-3. I've succeeded run the XLPT @400 mhz CAS 1.5-2-2-5/CAS 2-2-2-5. PC Mark v1.30 (44 test) score: 3759/3762. Strangely by default, if the trcd set to 2, the dimm voltage raise to 2.75v automatically althought I set it to 2.6v. One more question...is this mb really need ATX 2.0 power supply? I I'll go to Thermaltake W0049 (680 watts, atx 2.0) if you recommend atx 2.0 psu. Thanks.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 22, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 22, 2005 You would need to talk to the MB maker about the PSU, but from what I have seen thats whats being suggested with this chipset. So a new bios seems to have fixed the problem, is that correct?
ferry_g
Yes RAM Guy. If fixed the problem. No more worries. Thank you very much.

ferry_g
Ram Guy, I've just tested the TwinX1024-3200XLPT again after flashing to BIOS N4D414-3. I've ran Memtest86+ v1.55 until pass 35 (15 hours test), The problem is I got 18 failing address in test 8 pass 22 (MemMap 635.4 mb)only. And until the rest of the test, I've got no more errors. Which one who bad...cpu, mb, or the XLPT itself? Should I RMA the XLPT? ferry_g
Ram Guy, I just bought Thermaltake W0049, ATX 2.01 PurePower 680 watts psu that has 3 rails of 12V. Tested with both DFI SLI-DR & A8N SLI Deluxe. No more problem/crash in 3DMark05 after test 1 (usually it crash). I have another brand value series DDR 400 mhz cas 2.5-3-3-8/2.5v. No error after 21 pass of memtest. -When you tested the XLPT in A8N, which slot you're using...blue/black? -Do you recommend Antec True Power II 550 watts (TP II 550EPS12V), because I just only bought 1 piece of psu. No error after 21 pass of memtest. A: Not with out knowing more about the modules and what settings you tried. But I would talk to the module and or MB maker if they are not our modules. They may have suggested settings for you to try! -Do you recommend Antec True Power II 550 watts (TP II 550EPS12V), because I just only bought 1 piece of psu. A: You should really talk to the respective MB maker about that, but as I know it both of these MB's suggest/require an ATX 2.0 Compliant PSU and the True Power series does not meet this spec. But please talk to the MB makers to be sure.
ferry_g
Ram Guy -I know it's not your responsbility, but fyi, the modules are TwinMOS Model No. M2G9J16A-TT that will not post in slot 1. (Blue color in A8N SLI Deluxe & Yellow color in DFI SLI-DR). All other settings are leave in default value. If you got time please explain to me why. -Thanks for helping me so much! -Corsair = Great memory with great customer support too, I 100% satisfied with Corsair. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 28, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 28, 2005 It’s hard to say, from the product description the modules should be compatible, probably just the modules may either be programmed with the wrong SPD or not at all and/or there is something physically wrong with them. I would send them back to your supplier. Especially if other memory will run properly in that slot.
