slipd
Hi guys, I've had my new Ryzen build up and running for a couple of weeks now, settling down etc... I'm a bit concerned about my idle temps though. Under absolutely no pressure my cpu temps range from between 34-63c  I used Arctic Silver 5 but following advice on another forum I didn't use the 'grain of rice' in the middle of the chip method instead opting for the Ryzen method depicted below: Could it be my choice of paste application causing the erratic temps? Also, how tight do you go with the pump screws - I was worried about bending the AM4 bracket! Thanks.
Corsair Employees Corsair Mint Posted September 10, 2020 Corsair Employees Share Posted September 10, 2020 Hmm, it wouldn't hurt to do a reinstall of the pump block with the "grain of rice" option and see if it changes drastically. For the screws, you just want it finger tight, don't use a screw driver as you may over-torque it there.
slipd
Hi there, Thanks for the reply! Yes, I re-applied past, single grain of rice method and I have definitely drooped a couple of degrees... the original application was all over the place when I removed the block and it wasn't even! I'm still messing about with fan profiles etc. so will report back once that is sorted. This is my first Ryzen setup and I don't think I realised how erratic the individual core temps were :sigh!: Thanks.
