stuartd
I just received a K95 Platinum XT but have a couple of questions. I'm trying to setup a Rain effect + a 'Type' effect that remains active on the lock screen. I understand that the lock screen is controlled under 'Hardware Lighting' but this only allows a single predefined lighting effect, so I'm unable to add both effects that I want to it. Is this something that's going to be addressed ? I am able to do this with a different brand keyboard I have. The Type effect allows the pressed key to remain illuminated or for a 'Ripple' effect. Are there any plans to also allow the 'Ripple' to only be active along the row of keys that the pressed key is on ? I am able to do this with a different brand keyboard I have. There is a loud metallic 'ping' or 'ringing sound' when typing or after pressing any key. Is this normal ?

When in hardware mode you are running from the MCU in the keyboard and not the software. There are going to be limitations to the complexity of effects and the number. This is not something likely to change. The Type effect allows the pressed key to remain illuminated or for a 'Ripple' effect. Are there any plans to also allow the 'Ripple' to only be active along the row of keys that the pressed key is on ? I am able to do this with a different brand keyboard I have. You are able to do this here as well in a couple of different ways. If you use the type lighting preset and selectively apply it to Row X (CTRL + Left click drag), the ripple will be contained in that row and effectively shoot left/right down the row. You also can do this by creating custom waves or ripples, selecting it to start "on pressed key", and stop after "1" time. However, the only reason to do it that way it to customize the length of the streak (wave) or to do complex color gradients (fades or color blends). CTRL + Left click drag is very important for selectively applying or removing lighting effects to different parts of the keyboards. As you'll find out very quickly, if you simply left click the keyboard area in CUE, the lighting effect will disappear. There is a loud metallic 'ping' or 'ringing sound' when typing or after pressing any key. Is this normal ? This seems to vary. Some keyboards have more than others. Some keys are more prone to this because of their physical characteristics, like the space bar's length. What I would suggest doing is carefully, but firmly pressing down on the main keys the next time you are powered down to make sure they are all seated well. In my experience, not all of the key caps are fully inserted onto the switch right out of the box. That may help with the resonance through the chassis. stuartd
Thanks for the reply. I had made sure that all keycaps were secured firmly to the switches. I swapped some of them out for other keycaps that I have and unforunately they were the same. Just pressing and releasing the switch itself had the same result. I decided that the issues I had with the K95 weren't acceptable (to me) for a £200 keyboard and returned it for a refund.
