VS512MB400 Issues

I need some advice. I have two VS512MB400 running in my system.

AMD Athlon 64 3200 Winchester

MSI Neo2 Platinum 939 MS-7025

ATI Radeon 9600XT 128 DDR

From other forums I have learned what the setting should be...see below. When I set the Max Memclock to 200 my computer will not start. When I set it to auto which has it running at 100 it starts and runs well but it's not using the best amount from my memory at 200. What am I doing wrong. I have ran that memory test and the ram has no errors. Can I run 200 Memclock on my system or is it limited to 100? What other settings can I try? I also want to use the Dynamic Overclocking but will that work. So, I tried the setting exactly below with no success.

These settings did not work.

DRAM Configuration :

Max Memclock: Limit or 200

1T/2T Memory Timing : 2T

CAS# latency (Tlc): 2.5

RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd): 3

Min RAS# active time (Tras): 8

Row precharge Time (Trp): 3

High Performance Mode : Manual

Aggressive timing : DISABLED

Dynamic Overclocking: DISABLED

Spread Spectrum : Enabled

HT Frequency : 5x

Cool’n’Quiet: Enable

Adjust CPU Rotation: Startup

Adjust CPU FSB Frequency: 200

Adjust AGP Frequency: 66

Adjust CPU VID 1.500v

CPU Voltage: By CPU VID

Memory Voltage : 2.75

AGP Voltage: 1.50V *1.6V if you have 9200 or 9600 ATI or 5200 or 5700 Nvidia card.

I am having success with these settings:

DRAM Configuration :

Max Memclock: Auto

1T/2T Memory Timing : 1T

CAS# latency (Tlc): 2.5

RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd): 3

Min RAS# active time (Tras): 8

Row precharge Time (Trp): 3

High Performance Mode : optimal

Aggressive timing : optimal

Dynamic Overclocking: Colonel

Spread Spectrum : disabled

HT Frequency : 4x

Cool’n’Quiet: Enable

Adjust CPU Rotation: Startup

Adjust CPU FSB Frequency: 200

Adjust AGP Frequency: 66

Adjust CPU VID 1.500v

CPU Voltage: By CPU VID

Memory Voltage : Auto

AGP Voltage: 1.60V

My system is stable and running at a 2.4Ghz and CPU temp 50c. But I can't get the ramm to run at 200Mhz. I want to OverClock and have the right settings. What are the right settings for my computer?

Help, this is so confusing trying to get the right info.

Thanks

Robert

Please test the modules one at a time and I would set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts and lets make sure one is not failing.

DRAM Configuration :

Max Memclock: Limit : 200

1T/2T Memory Timing : 2T

CAS# latency (Tlc): 2.5

RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd): 3

Min RAS# active time (Tras): 8

Row precharge Time (Trp): 3

High Performance Mode : Manual/Auto/User Define

Aggressive timing : Manual/Auto/User Define

Dynamic Overclocking: Disabled/Manual/Auto/User Define

Spread Spectrum : disabled

HT Frequency : 4x

Cool’n’Quiet: Enable

Adjust CPU Rotation: Startup

Adjust CPU FSB Frequency: 200

Adjust AGP Frequency: 66

Adjust CPU VID 1.500v

CPU Voltage: By CPU VID

Memory Voltage : 2.7 Volts

AGP Voltage: 1.60V

Thanks. I will try that out when I get home from work and let you know what the test results are.

I tested both of the ram seperately with the Memtest. The first one passed with no errors, I ran it for 60 minutes. The second ram had one error and I also ran that for 60 minutes. The following is the error that the second ram had is:.

Test 8

Pass 2

Failing Address 0001e209768 - 482.5MB

Good 00000000

Bad 00002000

Err-Bits 00002000

Count 1

The error only showed up once. When I tested the second ram again it did not have an error. I tested both chips at once and it didn't have an error. I tested the memory using the setting that you sent me and I didn't have a problem. Your setting were working and the computer booted up fine. I was running both chips in Memory Slot 1 and Slot 3. After reveiwing your comments again in other postings I decided to play around with the memory location and placed the memory in Slot 1 and Slot 2 and it started up with your settings and seems to be running well. So, I don't know if the ram was in the wrong slots or what but your settings are working and my computer is booting and also I am able to have the Dynamic Overclocking set at Colonel level. Thank you very much. Should I be worried about the error that the second ram had?

Thanks

Robert

Please do let me know, and I would test the modules one at a time as well.

I ran the Memtest with the new mem volt settings at 2.8v for 60 minutes and it came up with 8 errors. Here are the errors

Test 5, Pass 0, Failing Address 00028eb3dc0 654.1mb

Test 5, Pass 0, Failing Address 00028eb3de0 654.1mb

Test 5, Pass 0, Failing Address 00029eb3da0 670.1mb

Test 5, Pass 0, Failing Address 0000f23a164 242.6mb

Test 7, Pass 0, Failing Address 00028eb3d64 242.6mb

Test 7, Pass 0, Failing Address 0000f23a164 242.6mb

Test 8, Pass 0, Failing Address 00028eb3d64 654.1mb

What does this mean? The system did seem to run faster with the new mem volt settings but had more errors.

Robert

No problem, and please let me know, and that error just for the record may be from another issue.

That might suggest a power problem, but lets try replacing your modules and go from there.

Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
