Dmbeirne
Hey guys, In iCue, the temperature of my H100i Platinum RGB shows the temp of 32 degrees celcius but on coretemp it varies from 49-67 degrees celsius at idol really not doing anything. Should I be worried? Why is the temp different in iCue? Thanks Edited July 18, 2020 by Dmbeirne Image
LeDoyen
iCUE shows the coolant temperature, not the CPU temp.
Dmbeirne
Any idea why the coolent is 32 degrees but pc is over 60 mostly on idle? Bit strange for water cooling
c-attack
Your idle CPU temp is likely higher than expected because the voltage is up and not relaxed. This seems to be a feature of the Ryzen 3000 series CPUs and there was a lot of flap at launch. As for the coolant, it’s a transport system for heat conducted off the CPU. It’s not a piece of silicon in a water bath. The cpu will always be the warm thing. The coolant temp is a measure of how much heat you have added into cooler vs how much it can dissipate through the radiator. The relationship is +1C coolant temp = +1C CPU temp. Coolant temp changes are relatively small in comparison the range of cpu temperatures. That is a result of the voltage coming from underneath the cpu and there is little you can do about that aside from lowering it. https://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=197854
