eastcoasthandle
Hello, I need to know how to properly configure my bios (1018) to run the timing at 1:1 properly? (2-2-2-5) @ 2.75V I ran Sandra and it gives me a score of 4800 and it advises that 3200 ram using a 478 chipset should yield 5000+?!? Yes, I already know it's synthetic. What am I doing wrong? I have no problem overclocking it as I have gone as high as 240 at 2-2-2-5 using Prime94 and memtest without problems but it will not score anything beyond 4700. From a FSB of 205 on it simply will not yield a higher score.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 13, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 13, 2005 Please try these settings after you load setup defaults. AI Over Clock Tuner: Manual CPU Freq: 200 MHz Memory Frequency: 100%/DDR400 Dim Voltage to 2.75 Volts (but if you over clock 2.85 Volts) Resulting Frequency: 200MHz/400DDR Legacy USB: Disabled SDRAM CAS Latency: 2T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 2T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 2T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 5T Then test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org. And if you over clock the CPU it would be best to relax the timings to like Cass 2.5-3-3-7 and set the Voltage to 2.85 Volts and then increase the CPU Freq a few MHz at a time and see where it tops out then tweak the settings to enhance the performance. But using http://www.memtest.org to verify your settings are not causing errors. And I would try Everest 1.5 (AKA: Aida32) to benchmark the memory. eastcoasthandle
Ram Guy, What should I set the Dram Idle Timer and Dram Refresh Rate? Dram Idle Timer Options: 0T, 8T, 16T, 64T, Infinite, Auto Dram Refresh Rate: 7.8 µsec, 15.6 µsec, 31.2 µsec, 64 µsec, 128 µsec, Auto BTW Disabling the Legacy USB did help some. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please try these settings after you load setup defaults. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 14, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 14, 2005 I would suggest you set any setting not listed at bios default. Just set them to AUTO or what ever the bios sets as defult.
eastcoasthandle
RAM GUY, sorry to keep bugging you...OK I have completed that. However, I noticed something odd. When I increase the FSB from 200 to 210 I notice that the Frequency (using CPU-Z) under the Memory Tab decreases from 199.9 to 146.7. When I run Sandra I go from 4850 (Freq. 199.9 @ 200 FSB) to 4325 (Freq. 146.7 @210 FSB). Thi is at 2-2-2-5 @ 3:2 FSB:RAM...What is wrong, it's barely overclocked and should work at that latency? Ram Guy, HELP!! I would suggest you set any setting not listed at bios default. Just set them to AUTO or what ever the bios sets as defult. eastcoasthandle
Ram Guy Please read the following as I have done what you asked of me. Everest Benchmarks at the end of this post, Please provide your thoughts on this. I figured out what was going on. I had to diable Auto for Ram Frequency to 400 and increase AGP Aperture from 64MB to 128MB (don't know why that matters) Sandra now reports Memory Bandwidth Benchmark 5415 Int Buff’d and 5377 Float Buff’d ----------------- CPU-Z (Highlighted Key Parts) CPU -P4 3.20E (Yeah I ordered a new CPU) overclocked to 3519.5 (according Asus AI Booster). Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 18, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 18, 2005 I would set the Dim Voltage to 2.85 Volts but that looks pretty good for the frequency you are running them at.
