Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 12, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 12, 2005 With this MB I would suggest VS1GB400C3 and just run the memory at DDR333.

cco82
Hi RAM GUY,I tried to search for the memory module you suggested me but I got problems to find it here in Italy, too much time to wait for it...so...I found a couple of CMX512A-2700C2 almost at the same price of the VS1GB400C3...Do you think they can give same performance as VS1GB400C3?Being XMS I think these would even be better in some cases, ain'it?Anyway thank you in advance,I'll be waiting your suggestions before placing an order... Bye! Wired
The CMX512A-2700C2s are not guaranteed to hit DDR400 speeds like the VS1GB400C3 are.
cco82
Problem is I got a MoBo (Asus P4S8X) which only supports DIMM memory up to 333 Mhz frequency...so same answer anyway?I should prefer VS1GB400C3? Thnx a lot.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 14, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 14, 2005 XMS2700C2 should run great in that MB, but if you get these modules you may not have an upgrade path. I would still suggest VS1GBKit400 as the best option, that way you have some path for future upgrades, but if you do not plan on upgrading or over clocking XMS2700C2 would be a good choice. cco82
Sorry didn't specify processor,MoBo is written above, anyway it's an Asus P4S8X (Sis 648) and I currently use an Intel P4 2.53 Ghz with a 533 Mhz FSB processor.Thnx.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 22, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 22, 2005 With this MB and CPU you will want to use these settings and install the modules in slots 1-3. CPU Freq: 133 MHz Memory Frequency: 125%/DDR333 Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts Resulting Frequency: 166MHz SDRAM CAS Latency: 2.5T SDRAM RAS to CAS Delay (tRCD): 3T SDRAM Row Precharge (tRP): 3T SDRAM Active to Precharge Delay (tRAS): 7T
cco82
Hi RAM GUY,sorry if it took so long to answer but I've been a little busy lately...anyway I'm writing you with my new configuration, working great&stable,I'll let you know how and if I solve my problem with the onboard buzzer tellin' me I got an undervoltage for 3.3 V (we discussed this problem in the past...and seems not to be mobo's fault),cause recently I found on the web some discussions of various people who had the SAME problem and solved it just using a power supply capable of more Ampere on the 3.3 V line...So dumb not to try it before...anyway I'll let you know, thanks a lot for your suggestions and your time.Best regards, bye!! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 29, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 29, 2005 Yes that would suggest a PSU problem and replacing the PSU will likely solve it.
cco82
My gosh...can't believe that...2 years and finally it's over...the buzzer STOPPED today in the morning :sunglasse :sunglasse I'm so happy, still can't believe that...it was simply a current problem...the old PSU had a 14 A on the 3,3 V line, this one has a 20 A (peak) on the same line...Just a last question (I promise  ),I found a "SDRAM Command Lead Off" and don't know what is/how should be set...Anyway problem solved, great memory modules suggested...Thank you so much guys, bye ! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted May 2, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted May 2, 2005 No problem and thanks for letting us know. And any setting not listed should be set to Bios default or AUTO. And you go to http://www.rojakpot.com and look for this setting in their bios setup guide and get more information about what it is what you should set it too.
