CrashDummy
I ordered a 1gb stick of PC3200 (part# VS1GB400C3) from zipzoomfly.com and installed it about a week ago. My PC started getting a little flaky a few days ago, locking up once or twice a day. I booted to memtest86 and got errors, so I remove all but this stick. I ran memtest again and still got errors. I pull this one, put the other memory back in and run memtest again. I let it run for a couple of hours and it didn't come back with any errors. I don't have it running outside normal specifications, no overclocking or aggressive timings. I even backed it down from 400mhz to 333mhz but still get the same errors. Memtest always gives them on test 4 at around the 630mb mark. Please let me know if there is something else I should try, or do I need to start an RMA? Thanks. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 12, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 12, 2005 Can you tell me the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
CrashDummy
The motherboard is a Soyo KT600 Dragon ultra platinum. The memory & FSB are both at 333. System Performance: normal/fast/turbo is set to normal. Bank interleave is disabled. Everything else is at defaults (voltages, CAS, ram timings, etc),

CrashDummy
I ran memtest for a couple of hours with these settings and it passed. Should I just try it while & see how the PC runs?

CrashDummy
Thanks Ram Guy. It was definately the RAM. I put it back in & ran it all day while I was at work & came home to a screen full of errors on test 4, all around the 620-640mb mark. I submitted the RMA request. CrashDummy
I shipped the bad one on Friday and Fedex tracking says Corsair got it Monday. I received the replacement today (Thursday). Pretty good turnaround time but I was disapointed that there was no communication from Corsair that it had been received, tested, or that the replacement was coming. On the plus side though I installed it and ran memtest for a couple of hours tonight without error. I'll probably let it run overnight to be sure, but it's looking good so far.
