Virtuoso lack of sidetone (Weak)

Recommended Posts

I don't want to sound like a broken radio but I've been following this forum for a while and I'm also super disappointed in the volume of the side tone on my Corsair Virtuoso Wireless RGB headset.

It was much louder on my corsair void wireless headphones to a point where I almost regret upgrading.

I have the original ear cups and they were replaced recently so I'm not going to upgrade anytime soon.

If we can go back to the old way of setting side tone volume i would appreciate it. Where you could increase the volume in the config file beyond what the software allows.

I too would like to see this improved. I might resell my Virtuosos and go back to my voids even though they are falling apart.

I'm on firmware version 0.16.80.

Strange enough the side tone is a bit louder if i uninstall iCUE entirely. It seems to be a software limitation.

Very dissapointing that the dev team would kneecap one of their products in software.

I have this problem also. I upgraded to the Virtuoso SE from my Void Pros as they are falling apart. The sidetone is so much louder on my Void Pros and I am barely able to hear it at max on my Virtuosos.  I have tried numerable methods to fix this that are all somewhere in this thread but to no avail. This headset also has far less comfortable ear pads than the Void Pros - the ear pads are extremely shallow and very uncomfortable for long periods of time as your ear touches the inside. I'm very disappointed that a high range headset from corsair has these issues especially when I loved my Void Pros and had them for years. Contemplating returning these and buying a new pair of Void Pros....

Quick follow up, I've reached out to our internal teams to check on this. No updates right now, but I'll provide one as soon as I have it. Thanks for your patience while we continue to look into this.

I just picked up a pair of these and enjoy most things about them.

There are two, perhaps three, issues that I have with them.

My ears do not protrude far from my head, however my ears hit the plastic over the speakers. Pretty uncomfortable for longer-ish sessions.

No Xbox support? Come on.

THE BIG ONE: Sidetone volume! Holy crap. If this isn't changed, I'm returning these and never looking back to Corsair nor recommend this product and possibly brand to anyone again. I shouldn't have to insert my mic into my mouth to hear myself. You might as well not even have sidetone/feedback/playback whatever you want to call it. This is ridiculous. This should be a basic, well made, feature by this point. FIX this. It can NOT be that difficult or time consuming. So many companies ignore their consumers and this seems to be one that does that very thing. A rather expensive headset to not have this feature improved upon after these years of people asking. Why? Just...why? Even dog water headsets have better sidetone.

Clearly, a company that gives not a care. Please, prove us incorrect.

Virtuoso XT--iCUEv4.27.168--Headset v5.11.88--Dongle v5.9.130 (tried 2 different PCs Win10 & Win11)

I have read through all 5 pages of this forum and submitted a ticket myself. I have the same sidetone issue, everyone else is experiencing, as of 9-2-22. The Sidetone audio exists, it's just super low compared to any other headset. I've tried all of the proposed solutions in this thread with no luck--some improvement, but still way too faint.

I know this has been ongoing for 2 years, has anyone in this forum found any other solution and perhaps just not posted?

Don't expect sidetone to change, we've been complaining about it FOREVER already.

I just created an account to post in here as well. I'm fuming. I bought the Corsair Virtuoso XT for about 300 dollars, expecting only the best of the best and I've got the same sidetune error as everyone else. It's absolutely disgusting how there seems to be no solution from Corsair for YEARS. If anyone knows any fix to the low sidetone volume, PLEASE, PLEASE share. Corsair - shame on you, why don't you help your customers?!

Hello Corsair,

Are you ever going to fix this?

Your side tone feature for a $250 headset is ****!!!!!!!

Way to quiet and pretty much useless / pointless even having a volume slider in Icue.

Returning headset.

Thanks

Wish I had returned mine while I had the chance - it's still sitting in the box like new because of this issue.

Still can't believe it's been over 2 years since this whole thread was made, and there's still not a solution!! I kept my  headset because I thought there would be a chance that this could be resolved, and it looks like it's unlikely to be one at this point. I loved how comfortable the headset was but I really couldn't get over the fact that I couldn't hear myself!

I have been having the same problem since this headset and was just looking for a solution and tried everything that were mentioned in this thread.

I have found another solution though.

Here are the instructions:

  1. Install the Voicemeteer standard version from here: https://voicemeeter.com/
  2. Restart the PC
  3. Start the Voicemeteer
  4. Select Hardware Input 1 as the corsair headset as well as the Hardware Out
  5. Increase the Fader Gain to your liking
  6. From the Menu top right corner, choose `Run on Windows Startup`
  7. Enjoy the proper sidetone volume!

This will definitely be my last purchase from Corsair though!

Cheers!

Corsair customer for several years now, first product that has been strikingly bad.

Same issue as seemingly everyone else who has bought this headset regarding sidetone, audio balance seemed pretty dreadful also,

Tried all recommendations provided in this thread and on other forum sites and reddit posts. I'm not prepared to look for 3rd party solutions to something a firmware fix could solve.

Will be the first product I return as it is basically unusable to talk to others while playing games because you cant hear the volume you are talking at. Sidetone on my old Void headset was fantastic, volume was so loud I had to turn it down 50%.

Atrocious customer service given the age of this thread now. Don't really want to continue the dogpile but this should have been resolved over a year ago for such an expensive product. Given that I'm running the same hardware, Icue version, and volume settings as I was a week ago with my old Voids there's no reason the sidetone should be so quiet especially given that my friends very first remark was about how loud the microphone was compared to my old one.

I know this thread is for the virtuoso but I thought I would mention this since it proves its more of a recent corsair design flaw.

I got a pair of the corsair HS80 for Christmas and was excited as I was previously using a old corsair void pro yellow jacket and it was all perfect. The only reason I changed was because of a issue with the sidetone where I I spoke to loud the headset would cut out.

But  they have the same issue that you are all having with the virtuoso the sidetone even when set to 100 is almost not  noticeable.  I just want a headset that I can use with my pc that has a decent audio, reasonable mic and a great sidetone like the void had so I don't accidentally shout.

Has anyone got any recommendations on a new headset? I would love to stay with corsair but after seeing this thread go on for over 2 years it doesn't give me hope.  I tried a logitech one because it was at the top of a list for best headsets with sidetone and that's also bad. I don't understand why it's so hard for a hardware company to make a good headset and acknowledge a issue with the ones they have made.

Just upgraded from my absolutely thrashed, ancient Voids to what are otherwise incredible Virtuoso XTs. Really disappointed in how quiet sidetone is even at max, it's practically useless.

I'm using the Arctis 7 as a replacement and quite happy.  They even have a database file you can edit to crank sidetone even louder than stock (but its not generally necessary).  This is as close as it comes to the old yellow void pros that I have.
