morpheus_clio
Recently I've encountered a real problem with one of my memory sticks. My computer started to crash randomly and I had no explanation for it. Re-installed OS (sometimes during the instalation the pc crashed also) and I even though it was the hard disk ... until one day my computer didn't boot up ... so I removed one of the memory sticks and the pc started to boot but failed ... then I tried another and the computer booted OK! tried to install linux with the "good" mem stick it worked, tried to install with the "bad" one it failed... When I passed with the memtest first time none of the mem sticks gave me and error but I insisted and them it gave me 3 errors (it was only after the 4 test the mem start to give errors). Should I submit the stick to RMA? my computer: K8N Neo Platinum A64 3000+ Seagate 120 gb Geforce 6800gt Gigabyte Audigy 1 Player the memory: 2x256 mb DDR 3200 XMS CORSAIR 3200 LL 400 mhz
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 11, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 11, 2005 Please test the modules one at a time with http://www.memtest.org and I would set the Dim Voltage to 2.7 Volts as well. If you do find one failing then lets get it or them replaced. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However; if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem, and I would try testing the memory in another system to be sure. morpheus_clio
I tested the memory with memtest and one gave me a lot of errors and the other memory didn't. I will follow your suggestion and make the RMA. If you think I should try another thing please let me know. Thank you.
