Corasik
Hi, I am getting memory errors on my Corsair XMS3200LL twinx memory, I have tried increaseing voltages from 2.5 up to 2.75, but the errors remain. Default SPD detected on the motherboard (Abit IS7-E2), are 2-3-2-5, I override as use 2-3-2-6 as printed on the labels on the stick, I've also tried 2-3-3-6, and 2.5-3-3-6 to see if the modules would improve at lower latencys. I've also tried the modules on an Asus P4G8X, and an Abit IC7-MAX3, and on all systems the modules are failing. The modules are about 14 months old, bought from OcUK in england. As they are over 1 year old OcUK dont wish to get envolved. I have run both Memtest86, and Memtest for Windows, both applications find the errors. Having replaced the ram with 'cheap unbranded' memory the errors have gone, although timings are at 3-4-4-8 on the cheap ram. Memory is being run at 'stock' speed of 200Mhz. Please let me know if I qualify for an RMA, and how to proceed from here. Many Thanks Graham Coker
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 11, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 11, 2005 Can you tell me the make and model of MB you have along with the CPU speed and it’s FSB as well? In addition, please tell me the bios settings you have set for both CPU and memory and any performance settings that you may have set?
Wired
Assuming your RMA is approved, mention to them that all of Corsair's overseas distributors are set up to handle RMAs for Corsair. They will probably help you get in contact with the distributor directly to RMA it. If they have any questions about this I'd refer them to Corsair's Cust Service dept (1-888-222-4346). If your reseller refuses, contact Corsair's Customer Service Department and they can find out whom your reseller's distributor is and help you out with the process, or if you like you can just RMA them to Corsair in the USA. Corasik
Hi Ramguy Motherboard is an Abit IS7-E2, CPU is a 2.4Ghz Pentium 4, Frontside bus is 200Mhz, with DDR running 1:1 so also at 200mhz, The performance settings used are Auto/Auto/Auto/Disabled/Disabled in the 'turbo' section, I find disabling the last two options increased stability a little, but didnt remove all the errors. I've tried both SPD and Manual settings for memory timings, but even slow timings didnt really help much. Hyperthreading is enabled. CPU VCore is default at 1.525V, Memory I have tried from 2.5-2.75V but saw only slight improvement at 2.75, still many errors present. I've also tried the ram in an Asus P4P800, an Asus P4G8X, and an Abit IC7-Max3, and every board I tried it in, it failed. I have not bothered to check exactly which of the two memory sticks it is, as I assumed rightly or wrongly, that as its TwinX memory, you would want it tested as a pair. I can test each module by itself if you believe that would be helpfull. If you need me to do anything else, just let me know. Thanks PS Wired, thanks for the info about using a distributor, im sure that will be a good idea.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted April 12, 2005 Corsair Employees Share Posted April 12, 2005 Testing the modules one at a time will help to verify its really a module problem. In other word it would be unlikely you have 2 bad modules and if one is failing testing them one up will show that. Where as if its some other issue you might get errors with both modules or not at all when testing them one up. So I would encourage you to test them one at a time. But I have no problem replacing them as well. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it!
