richjfree Posted April 8, 2005 Share Posted April 8, 2005 Could you recommend a memory model for my application? The user is an extreme gamer wants to upgrade his machine to 2GB from 512MB. The machine is a hp pavillion a250y d7219P. I think 4 sticks of the CMX512-3200C2PT would be a good choice but he thinks the pro series is a better choice. he has already upgraded the video card to aan ATI X800 Pro. Wired Posted April 8, 2005 Share Posted April 8, 2005 PROs just have pretty lights, NO OTHER DIFFERENCE. He should go with 2x512 sticks so as to place less strain on the memory controller and it's easier to install 2 vs. 4 sticks, etc. However, OEM systems can't take advantage of tighter timings.
